How easy would it be to incorporate the Sears text carts? Other than the text, you just add the big number on the top of the label, right? That would be cool, as I have a couple Sears carts with missing end labels.

I wanted to do an Atari related project during my holidays so I've put together an online Label Maker for the Atari 2600.

 

The Label Maker produces relatively authentic "Picture Label" style labels with your choice of label image, game title and color. Optionally the Atari Logo and CX Number may be included.

I've attached a couple of sample labels to this post. If you have any problems or suggestions for improvements please drop a reply in this thread.

 

There have been a lot of suggestions as to what the next label should look like. I'm looking at my pressure cooker cart and I really like the screenshot and the layout of that label, and so I suggest that be the next label layout for the labelmaker. It'll encourage people not only to make cool names but use their own pictures (made-up screenshots to go with the made-up games).

How do I print out a label in the right size to fit on a cart?

I've made another small update to the label maker. The Atari Logo and CX Number both appear correctly within the label image regardless of the dimensions of the label image. Previously for non square images the positioning was wrong.

Yes. The small labels fit correctly when printed at 150 DPI and the large labels at 360DPI. If you're image software doesn't support setting the DPI for printing just set the printed width to 2.733 inches or 6.94 centimetres.

Soooo... is the label maker now producing labels in the size to fit a cart, or is another step still necessary to resize them? If so, what is that step. And, if so, why is that - why can't they be produced in the right size?

Sorry for the double post. I just finished a test label, and I mostly successfully relabeled an ugly Berzerk cart.

 

I used OpenOffice and saved it as a .ppt and should load with PowerPoint (I don't have any imaging software). The only problem I had was the end-label, I couldn't get the thickness of the label (from the top of the letters to the bottom) just right. Mine was totally missing, so I don't mind.

 

If someone can fix it, please repost it. I did this to save everyone the work, and make this a template. Make it the same size and it should work (but not the end-label).
