jaybird3rd #2 Posted August 7, 2007 KLAX was the last contract awarded for the development of a 2600 game, according to Steve DeFrisco (the programmer).
MagMax667 #3 Posted August 9, 2007 From Atari, yep, I think that Klax was the last, although Save Mary was still being made in 1991 but never released. Third-party publishers, however, continued to release games later. Acid Drop and Ghostbusters II were both released in 1992 (but I think GBII was programmed earlier by Activision, but unreleased until then.) I also think that the 64K Mega Boy was released around this time, but I'm not sure exactly when. I think I read 1991.
Nognir #4 Posted August 9, 2007 I though the last game, which was officially released was Secret Quest?
MagMax667 #5 Posted August 9, 2007 Well, Secret Quest has a 1989 copyright. There were several games from Atari with a 1990 copyright: Modorodeo, Xenophobe, BMX Airmaster, and Sentinel were all released in North America. Fatal Run and Klax were only released in Europe, in PAL format. The games I mentioned in my last post (GBII, Acid Drop and Megaboy) were also PAL. Then there were also Pick 'N' Pile, My Golf, and the unreleased Shooting Arcade. So, Secret Quest was one of the last, especially in America, but not exactly the absolute last game released for the system. Then again, my copy of Dark Chambers says © 1983, but the game was released in 1988, so you never know.
