Who's played Puzzle Quest for DS?

Recommended Posts

... and what do you think? Makes me think of Pinball Quest, which I know it can't resemble at all, but still a weird genre-meld there.

So is it good? Like $20 good? It's been out for a while now, so I am hoping someone has played it through to the end and so won't recommend through rose coloured 'new game I love' glasses.

Many thanks :)

It's quite good. The core gameplay is a bit repetitive (I'm not usually a huge

fan for match 3 type puzzle games) but there are enough items and variations

to keep it fun for a play through. The 4 different classes and ability to make custom

items and learn new spells give it some replay valus too. I'll probably pick it up

again some day to try playing through as a Druid some day. (I played as a mage

first, which I gather is one of the easier classes.)

It's really good. I had a kinda love/hate thing with it. I loved the idea and implementation, then I hated the seeming unfairness of some of it, then the layers of strategy opened up and I realised it wasn't unfair at all, just REALLY clever.

Great game.

'Course you shouldn't really be going for 3, but for 4 or 5 (which gives you an extra turn) :)

I think the spells and items really make the game open up when you advance levels. When you're super powerful it feels great to get bunches of mana from a single match, paralyze your opponent, magically change all gems to a color to max yourself out, then use a spell to decimate half the board in a huge explosion knocking out your 200-300 hp opponent in 2-3 moves  There's so many combinations of spells you can do later it just gets ridiculous.. you arent's just matching gems anymore by that point

Oh by the way.. great game. I like the PSP version better. The bug in it doesn't matter.

I paid $30 for it and it was worth that price - and there aren't that many games I pick up new/full priced. Great fun - I've put it down for awhile to work on raising my Pokemons but I'm really close to finishing my first playthrough and I'm certain I'll play it again with a different class at some point.

I also have the PSP version and enjoy the hell out of the game. But I haven't heard of a bug within the game.... what "bug" are you referring to? Is it only on the PSP version?

The in-game companions you pick up don't have the effects they're supposed to have. That's about it.

Oh and I dont know if this is a bug, but sometimes the game crashes sometimes if you do a majorly spectacular that causes all the visual effects and sound, slowing the psp down... and like I said, sometimes crashing it. I've seen it happen maybe twice or so. The above though with the companions is a permananent bug for sure.

I've been curious about this title, as I've heard some good things about it. I may have to try it out. Is it true that a Wii version is coming out? I thought I had read that somewhere?

A Wii, Mac and PC version are reportedly all on the way. If you have a portable,

I might stick with that, though. I think stylus control would be more natural

than Wii remote control for this kind of game... And the PSP version is supposed

to also be quite good (except for a few bugs)...

I randomly purchased this the other day for my DS finally. Had been hankering for a new DS game, and after looking through a lot of reviews I picked it up. I'm pretty addicted to it, I'm sad I didn't get it when it first came out! I'm in love!
