Ea gets the video games rights to Monoply (joystiq.com)

Ironic? Maybe. Fitting? Definitely! Now they just need to get the rights to Jackass and Cheaters.

Well what do you know, now I actually might play an EA game. Monopoly is my favorite boardgame, and if you think a)it is boring and takes to long or b) it always ends in a fight, then it's just because you don't know how to play. Me and my fiancee had a sort of Monopoly group going for a long time; we even had a trophy that the winners got to keep each week for bragging rights (my friend with his B Comm. kept it for 3 months straight at one point) and we've since all had to move to different places, so we don't get to play much anymore, so if they made a high end Monoploy with great online support allowing us to play against our friends, and with say voicechat and a running victory tally, I'd be all over it.

This is actually the sort of thing they'll be good at, as all the creativity is already taken care of, and all they have to do is reproduce it nicely electronically, which they certainly have the resources for.

Damn!

Monopoly: Bling! Bling! Edition.

Actually, considering who it is, I think NFL Monopoly is more likely. One of my friends has that board, and I like playing it, as buying teams and building stadiums fits the Monopoly idea while making it feel a little different. Of course, between Canadaopoly, Cat in the Hatopoly, Simpsonsopoly, NFLopoly, Disneyopoly, and 4 or 5 seperate boards of the original, it's pretty obvious that me and my friends will pretty much just buy anything ending in "opoly" they want to sell us.
