moycon #1 Posted August 11, 2007 For the most part I have every classic arcade game available on the 360, but the online play, especially for the older offerings is sometimes lacking. For folks here at AA this is a shame, especially for the older games since most of us are old. Why not have at least a monthly play-off? We pick a game. Everyone that wants a piece, signs up. We set a week-end date. We all exchange gamertags, and take turns playing each other. Maybe even working it into a tournament tree (If we have enough interest) Does this sound like it could work? BTW : Mr Jeffy and NE146 can't participate because they kick too much ass. J/K So how bout it?
PressureCooker2600 #2 Posted August 11, 2007 I wish I had a 360 so I coud participate. When my best bud still lived here, I was on his day and night practically. We dominated everyone on The Outfit, Call of Duty 2, and Halo 2. We were relatively good when it came to GoW and Saints Row.
Albert #3 Posted August 12, 2007 This could be fun, but I need some time to practice as I just got a 360. ..Al
Shannon #4 Posted August 12, 2007 Unfortunately I don't have a live Gold subscription (for any type of co-op). The only games I've really purchased are the namco titles. Pac-man, Ms. Pac-man, Dig Dug, and Pac-man CE. So I could participate with those. I don't really like the Atari conversions and personally consider them crap. I've been leaning towards getting Joust. But have not really decided. Just call me cheap.
Atariboy #5 Posted August 12, 2007 (edited) This sounds like fun, though I don't have all of them (About 1/3 of them, don't have most of the Midway games besides Smash TV and Root Beer Tapper, and for the Konami games I only have Time Pilot and Frogger, and I've skipped on all the Atari releases because they seem fairly poorly done and a lot of the achievements come from playing the enhanced modes). Uno would be fun too, that game is addicting on Live. Edited August 12, 2007 by Atariboy
NE146 #6 Posted August 12, 2007 BTW : Mr Jeffy and NE146 can't participate because they kick too much ass. Bah! ok I'll play. You guys need to learn how to play videogames though
PressureCooker2600 #7 Posted August 12, 2007 The Tapper conversion is done reasonably well and is addicting like always and I've wanted to try out the Joust myself. Any of ya'll gotten addicted to Geometry Wars? I liked the game and all but my friend got seriously obsessed with the game and went into the zone when playing it. He'd space out and play it for hours and get crazy ass high scores. That game is like Robotron on crack x20.

I have not yet tried Geometry Wars, but I did buy the 360 Live Arcade pack that includes it (along with some other games, such as Bejeweled 2). I'm a huge fan of Robotron, which is why I picked this up. ..Al
2600Lives #9 Posted August 12, 2007 I'd put my Street Fighter 2 skillz up against ya'll. As soon as my job situation stabilizes, I may take you guys up on this.
Lord Thag #10 Posted August 12, 2007 I'd probably be interested, but my work hours are pretty unpredictable at present. I have a bunch of XBL arcade games, so that wouldn't be an issue. Oh, and congrats on finally getting a 360, Albert!
Tempest #11 Posted August 13, 2007 Don't make me go out and buy a 360... Tempest
Red 5 #12 Posted August 13, 2007 I would be interested.
moycon #13 Posted August 13, 2007 Does anyone know how many people the chat supports? That might make things much easier if you can just open a chat and have people log into it. (I'm not positive this can be done, the only chats I've been on has been one on one and maybe that's all it can be) Basically we would have to get everyones gamertag that was interested, pre-populate a tournament tree, log into one big chat and announce who was up next for play. They would then drop off and go play the game, the winner could log back into the chat and make the announcement so the tree could be updated and the next couple could go off and play. Otherwise, I guess we would just have to make sure we all had each others gamertag, and the person running the tree could send messages to the folks who were up next. We would need to pick a game that has two players, and one where you can send invites to particular friends, and oviously a game that most people have, or would be willing to get. StormSurge #14 Posted August 13, 2007 Depending on the game, I'd be in. I'll get my arse kicked too, but it's all good.
PressureCooker2600 #15 Posted August 13, 2007 I know Street Fighter 2 had a tournament format made for it. I think it was maybe about 10 to 12 people that entered and picked a fighter....then watched all the fights until it was their battle. It was really fun.
