Eliminating dot crawl using RCA connection

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I am really in need of help here. Due to the fact that the s-video input on one of our TV's doesn't work I need to use standard RCA cables (yellow, red and white) to connect the PC to the TV. For PAL games this is fine, the picture is quite acceptable. However in NTSC mode there is a distortion in the graphics. I think its called dot crawl, where on the edge of images there is a kind of wavy distortion. Keep in mind when the s-video was working there was no dot crawl and the TV is NTSC compatible. I'm using a Gforce3 and TV Tool for the TV out.

Any help to eliminate the distortion will be great.

Thanks

Sam Delaurentis

Older "Detonator" driver versions have a slider to control Dot Crawl.

Problem is, you mightn't be able to find XP compatible versions.

TV Tool was great in it's day, but they've halted further development.

You also might have some luck if you lower the screen resolution.

Ah crap :)

Thanks for the response. It only happens in 60hz NTSC mode, for 50hz PAL mode there is no problem. Wonder why?
