SRGilbert #1 Posted August 19, 2007 (edited) For some reason, I just can't put my finger on what this used to be. Seems like it might make an easy Mame cabinet with the box on top for a monitor, and it looks like it might be easy to swap out the control panel. Artlover #3 Posted August 19, 2007 Looks like a NeoGeo cab of some kind. Not an offical one I don't think. http://www.hardmvs.com/html/cabphotos.htm But you're right, it does look NeoGeo'ish.
Cassidy Nolen #4 Posted August 19, 2007 I've only ever seen Neo's and conversions in those cabs. May have been a trivia game? Usually wood grained paneling on the sides. Not one I would pick out as classic, looks like it was designed for easy conversions (meaning many years after the golden age). C
djpubba #5 Posted August 19, 2007 That's a generic cabinet designed by the Aladdin's Castle chain of arcades in the 80's to house any game.
SRGilbert #6 Posted August 19, 2007 That's a generic cabinet designed by the Aladdin's Castle chain of arcades in the 80's to house any game. That makes a lot of sense. The guy who has them has several that each had different games in them. Like I was saying, looked like it might be an easy one for a Mame cab. Might be able to design several control setups and swap the whole box out pretty easy. Also, the monitor "box", depending on the actual size, could accomodate a variety of monitor types, ie PC monitor, TV sets, or an arcade monitor. I doubt I'll get it, but just thinking I guess! mr.bill #8 Posted August 20, 2007 They must have been sold in replay back in the day. You see these all over the place. At that auctions occasionally you will see a whole bunch. I have seen way too many for them to come from 1 chain. I would say it would make a better generic jamma cabinet than a mame box. I guess you can say I use something similar to those for my jamma cabinets. I prefer the atari drawer cabinets (rampart, klax, pitfighter, ect). They look nicer, can fit a 25" monitor and also have a flat sliding drawer for easy access to the boards. Plus the control panels are pretty easy to swap.
