Most graphics were done either using existing Atari 8-bit font editors, or for 12 color modes with a text editor and a program to convert the graphics to binary format. There are some C files in the download that I compiled and used to import sprites. I might have perl versions of those too somewhere. Also an a8 font converter in Perl it look like is in there too.
