Combat was first, Klax was last (Secret Quest is apparently last in the US, though that doesn't make sense since Xenophobe was released here and has a copyright of 1990). On another note, Ghostbusters II was programmed in 1990, yet the box has a release date of 1992, so it's all in how you look at it.

I think Ken wants to know the first game after the original 9 that debuted with the system.

I'm not sure, but if the model number is any indication, Space War might be a good guess. Then again, Outlaw has got to be a pretty early one too.

The first game catalog Atari published only had the 8 original games (besides Combat) that were available. The second catalog had 17, 8 of which were those originals again, and 3 of which were marked "Coming Soon" (Hangman, Basketball, and Football), so presumably game "#10" would be one of the remaining 6:

Breakout

Codebreaker

Home Run

Hunt & Score

Outlaw

Space War

Does anyone know if any records were kept by Atari with information like the release dates of all of their games? I would imagine there have to be records of this somewhere. The question is just whether or not anyone here has access to that information.

Ay, there’s the rub! Some releases might have been simultaneous. Some carts may have even preceded others with lower numbers, for any of a number of reasons.

Even if there were, it’s conceivable they no longer exist.

Yeah, I’m just full of encouragement. :P

Ay' date=' there’s the rub! Some releases might have been simultaneous. Some carts may have even preceded others with lower numbers, for any of a number of reasons.[/quote']

The first games were not released in sequential order. I've posted previous threads about the series concept Atari had with the first few games that game out. The original 9 releases had these numbers:

CX2601

CX2602

CX2603

CX2611

CX2612

CX2621

CX2641

CX2651

CX2661

My point, though, was that within each of these "series" (denoted by the 10s digits), it was reasonable to assume the 1s digits were put together in order, at least somewhat.

True. That would be unfortunate.
