2600 Switches

Recommended Posts

You can clean them without taking them apart or removing them from the board, but you will have to open the console. Just squirt some alcohol into them with a small spray bottle or eyedropper and work them back and forth several times to get out the dirt and any old grease/oil/etc. If you keep a paper towel handy, and hold the board upside down when you do it, you can keep the rest of the board clean and dry so you won't need to wait long before putting it all back together. Most of these switches originally had some kind of grease in them, but they don't need it and will go longer between cleanings if you leave them dry.
