Well, at least they haven't forgotten you. That's always a plus.

Good luck!

Good luck with them. Right now, you're the best advertisement they could hope for. I've never played Gorf, but you've single handedly convinced me to give it a go...if anything new is done with the IP on their end ( I could see a shooter party game, with every level being completely different ala Point Blank ), you're the only reason I'll be watching.

Keep in mind folks...this is step one....I still have two more to go. This needs

to be cleared with the other two rights owners, Namco and Taito.

I dont want to hear no BS( and i don't mean BattleSphere either) this

time around.

With the later two companies, I may call on the community to help me coax them.

I will see if my contact at Midway can get me an in at either company.

They may still have relationships going from the past, such as the rights to Gorfs

two Taito and Namco levels. My hope is that Midways importing of those two companies

games to the US back in the day, are still appreciated, if you know what I mean.

Good luck with Namco. :(

I tried every way I could think of to contact them when doing PacMan Collection for the 7800, and heard nothing from anybody.

With any luck if Midway gets onboard with the idea it would help the other 2's decision making for letting you do it just for the good PR.

So Gorf...

In retrospect, would you have even bothered programming this game if you knew all the trouble/grief/hoops-jumping you'd have to go through? Or would you have picked something original or less cumbersome?

Just curious.

Nope...Some things are worth the effort and I like the way Gorf classic for Jaguar turned out.

All the bullshit makes it that much more special, really. I've started dozens of games, some

of which are still in production on a spare time basis. This is the first truly completed one so

its special. I just wish I was clear about the rights from the begining, as I would have taken

care of this accordingly and may not have had to discontinue it in the first place.

No more direct tributes, that for sure. :)

I have 2600 stuff in the works... one that will be an absolute mind blower if I can pull it off

...its allready worlds better than a version once tried...worlds better according to the three

folks that have seen it...they will be the ONLY ones until it is finished too.

You certainly have the right attitude. I have some understanding of what you mean. I'm a fiction writer in my spare time, with many more stories started than completed. It'd be akin to me writing, say, a Star Trek-type story and publishing it, only to have the Paramount conglom come after me with pointed sticks. (Or, in this analogy, it would be a bit more accurate to say a few readers got on my case about publishing it without proper clearance. )

I agree with you... Some things are worth fighting for. You did a fantastic job with Gorf. Your version plays well, looks great, less filling, all that. It'll be a testament to your moxie if you can get this puppy re-released with everyone's blessings.

Besides, without this game, what would you call yourself here? :D

Keep this rule of mine in mind.

When some one constantly annoys me to do something, I tend to become less and less willing

to even consider it. Now, considering I'm not really willing now, the chances are getting slimmer.

Leave me alone with the MK already!!! Sheesh!

What gets me is there not even doing anything with this great game over at Midway and we the fans of it get nothing.

Has Gorf showed up on any of the classic collections that have been released in the last few years? As far as i know it hasnt and really how is releasing Gorf for the Jag going to hurt anyone?

There not making money on Gorf and am sure that releasing it on a dead system with a small but loyal fanbase isnt going to start a firestorm.

So rips off from a few other games from other game companies(Namco, ect.)but what games didnt back when Gorf came out or even now.

I want to wish Gorf much good luck getting this game to see the light of day again. :)

The difference is, I reelase Gorf thinking I was fine with Jamie Fenton's blessing.

Whe I released it, I said something to the effect that you wont need to download

illeagal roms to play GOrf anymore, then someone guilty of practicing ROMz ripping

took offense and started the whole firestorm. However, I discontinued Gorf. Im sure

every last stolen rom is still on this jerks hard drive...eevn after he posts to Jamie

how his 'consience' would feel better knowing the truth... The guy is a _____

and a ____ and It's no suprise he did what he did. Fll in the balnks as you see fit.

See this retard really did not care abotu it being authorized or not, but did it for the

sole purpose of hurting me and justifying his ROMEZ hobby, becasue I hit a guilty

nerve. I did the right thing however but Im sure he is still a rom dling fool.

Yup, I remember the whole ugly situation. I defended you then, as I do now. It was rude and stupid... and so very pointless. It didn't hurt only you; it hurt the entire Jag community. Not only in the discontinuance of a great, desperately needed new game, but it made us look bad as a whole. I have to wonder how many games-in-progress got toileted after that happened? If I were a programmer, I might very well have abandoned the Jag after that situation. Who needs that kind of grief?

I am glad I was able to get my copy when I did, and I hope others will be able to experience it soon.

Rock on, Krunch!!

Cheers,

Smeg

Yeah that's what selfishness and dishonesty will do for someone. They'll take no prisoners

getting what they want and do what ever it takes defending their bad behavior, regardless

of who suffers.

Oh well....hopefully Midway will have some good news for us Thursday.

And Rock I will. :)

Hi guys.....

Obviously, I can't get too detailed here as much of this is confident and will remain as such, however,

After talking with Midway, I have to say that things are looking swell, however, a licensed Gorf release for the

Jaguar will have Midway require some serious work on the part of 3DSSS. Even if they were to never use this

IP ever themselves, you have to rememeber, it is still their IP and you can bet they need to be sure this deal is

in thier best interests as you would expect.

This release will no doubt have to also live up to a very high standard of quality based on Midway's perseption

of quality. I cant imagine that being anything less then excellence, as you would also expect. Midway does not

want anything they own looking bad no matter what platform it ends up on. It sounds like they were quite

satisfied with the play and quality of Gorf. You all have to also realize legal and security issues will have to

be met.

Then you all still need to understand the issues with the two levels in question: Astro Battles(Space Invaders/Taito)

or Galaxians(Galaxian/Namco.)

I will be in further contact but there is a ton of requirements Im expecting from them on this. If I can not meet

these requirements, Gorf will be no more. Keep in mind, I get nothing from this other than to help a cause so

I have to be very careful. I definitely do not want anything out of step. My friend Neil and the CF Charity this will

ultimately represent however is certainly worth all the trouble. If it comes to me not being able to meet

requirements, we'll come up with a fresh new title, original to use as a charity fund instead. Im more interested

in Gorf however, because I;ve always loved it and I know alot of you love and want it.

I actually own a machine (two actually) so if I never wrote this for Jag, I'd be fine with life but I know some of

you have been patiently waiting and it is for you as well as Neil I work at this still.

I fully understand Midway's position on this. It is their IP and are in total control here. I think if I an satisfy all

their concerns once I sit down and really detail the whole kit and kaboodle to them I think they will let me do it.

Again, both Midway and 3DSSS must be fully satisfied. We intend to build and maintain good standing with Midway

regarless of their final decision.

Im not taking what we discuss as a yes just yet, but I think it's ALOT closer to becoming one than before.

Wow... the news is getting better and better!

Continued successes Gorf! I may yet be able to get a copy of this... it's been what now... a year and a half? :) I'm patient though... no hurry for me.

Looking forward to other future projects you create. Thanks for supporting the Jag!
