Gorf #26 Posted September 13, 2007 Wow... the news is getting better and better! Continued successes Gorf! I may yet be able to get a copy of this... it's been what now... a year and a half? I'm patient though... no hurry for me. Looking forward to other future projects you create. Thanks for supporting the Jag! Thanks King S. I appreciate that and it is why I even keep trying. I know so many of you want this and I really hope it happens. It's a great way to satisfy two needs. Truth be told, Im looking to get this past us one way or they other, though I hope everyone ends up getting what they want out of this. Again, Midway reserves the full and totaly right to excersize whatever is in their best interests. I would ask you all to understand this and be sensitive to Midway's final desicion regardless of what that is. 3DS will do it's best to establish and maintain a mutual and preofessional relation with the good folks at Midway. I also want you to know that regardless of popular opinion, the folks I have been in contact with are very kind and accomodating and quite frankly are going out of their way to do something atypical of a corporation...I again would ask you understand and respect this when all is said and done. I will be as candid as I am allowed to you the fans and keep you up to date when something significant arises. You all have to understand certain things must remain confidential. Thank you all for supporting our efforts! Your enthusiasm keeps us driven!
Gorf #27 Posted September 13, 2007 (edited) Keep in mind folks...this is step one....I still have two more to go. This needsto be cleared with the other two rights owners, Namco and Taito. I dont want to hear no BS( and i don't mean BattleSphere either) this time around. With the later two companies, I may call on the community to help me coax them. I will see if my contact at Midway can get me an in at either company. They may still have relationships going from the past, such as the rights to Gorfs two Taito and Namco levels. My hope is that Midways importing of those two companies games to the US back in the day, are still appreciated, if you know what I mean. With any luck if Midway gets onboard with the idea it would help the other 2's decision making for letting you do it just for the good PR. Well...one thing was clear....they love good PR, but they are a business first and foremost. In business, nice guys tend to finish last. Midway may very well have the authority themselves to allow me to use those other two IP's as part of the original agreement between the original players. These are things Midway is looking into. I would have to imagine they do not want to say 'go ahead' and then get in trouble with their long time buds at Taito or Namco over it( I assume the relation ship is still a good one if at all.) Again let me stress, my contact there is an awsome guy. Very understanding and very pleased with what he saw. I am assuming this based on what we discussed. I beleive it was compared to an arcade even. (good thing I own two to use during development eh? ) It's not for a lack of interest but he to has to have solid reason to explain to his superiors as to why he is spending company time on, let's face it a dead system, charity or not. The more I have discussed this with them, the better I understand the real wieght of doing such a thing. Again, the level of what they require may prevent it from happening but that is all being figured out. The fact is I will fully accept and understand what ever the final word is. I hope all of you will as well. Edited September 13, 2007 by Gorf

Paolo #29 Posted September 14, 2007 From what you say, Gorf, it seems that you had an extremely nice and intelligent contact ad Midway. I can fully understand how valuable is such a contact, and I can understand that you mean to credit him and thank him whatever will happen with this licencing thing. And this is the right thing to do. Thanking people for being honest and serious with us. He could just say, "Yeah, ok, ok, we'll see... yawn" and then forget about you; instead... All in all, thank you, Gorf, and kudos to Midway for their PR/legal/licence guys behaviour. About me, if this Gorfian thing has a happy-ending, I'll be happy to 'sponsor' a new owner to honour your charity campaign, since I already own a copy of your first run. justclaws #31 Posted September 15, 2007 Hi, Yeah I thought we were forgotten but my contact did good!I thank you for your words and actions of support! Well I've been out of the loop (and most Jag things) for quite a while now, but I hope things work out for you. I'd have been just as happy to see a new GORF inspired FROG game instead of GORF, but I appreciate that you are a real GORF fan and want to produce a real play-a-like version for all. Fingers crossed, good luck, Richard / JustClaws.

I'd have been just as happy to see a new GORF inspired FROG game instead of GORF, but I appreciate that you are a real GORF fan and want to produce a real play-a-like version for all. Fingers crossed, good luck, Richard / JustClaws. Though I considered a clone, (some with naughty titles just to have some fun ) I realized if you cant do the real thing just do something new. If we can do this reasonably it will be done. Like Midway and any other company, we have to protect OUR interests as well. We just may not be able to satisfy their needs. Hey, if it dont work out, I can at least know I did my best. There are other projects in the works that could do the same thing for charity, but Gorf has a popularity to it already that would hopefully draw more sales and there for more money for the fund. If I knew I could sell a ton of these for the Jaguar, they would be very inexpensive.... like half or less of the $34.95 suggested price. Midway may very well have something to say about the price as well. Again...a tangled web. There is just very little volume on the Jaguar. The truth is, this has been quite a lot more trouble than it's worth if it were not for the fact this was to honor a friend. I'd have been done with this otherwise a year and a half ago.
