Idea for a new controller

Recommended Posts

Would use the internals of the paddles to handle the x and y axis, like a gun turret.

I would bet that this idea came up in the 80s and was shot down because it was too hard to do. Or maybe someone else already thought of it. But I came up with it a few days ago and thought I'd share it. Feel free to use this idea and build one yourself. By doing this. I'm releasing the idea for full public, private, and commercial use. :) But I'm probably not going to actually create one.

Actually, that looks like it might work pretty good with Maze Craze (and that type of games)

I'd like to see more twin paddle games myself, but there's not many options without building a new controller (kinda like that one)

Not directly as designed, but this controller scheme suggests to me a handlebar style controller to be used with a "Razor" style scooter riding game. Lotsa holes in the thought, but you never know what some programmer might be able to do with the 2600.

If Skateboardin' is representative of the best that can be written for a game of this style, forget I mentioned it. :)

Looks like if you rip the guts out of paddles they could be put in the same configuration as Fort Apocalypse's, but as a yoke controller. Scooter game sounds neat, but I'm thinking 3D tunnel runner.
