Recommended Posts

Hello modding community, i come from the PSP modding world.

bit different but i know most of the drills, i own a psp with the original released board, i know about all the board types etc, and how they affect firmware and such yea yea yea,

but i need some help here!

Ok I am getting an xbox 360.

( chances are elite )

but i need your guys answering question skills.

Ok well I know NOTHING about them either,

( and for tho who know the other posts the arcade machine i have $2,000 for it just gotta find it)

( yea this topic i have more money to spend on games :) )

anyways,

I wana run emulators, but i know only if it can be done with an original xbox

does the 360 run emulators?

I want to run Atari,Odyssey,Nes,n64, you know the good ones.

Im checking for lowest prices right now ( if mod chip is needed its covered aswell)

but i was curious cuz

firmware versions afflicting with new games?

im buying it for Halo 3 aswell so you people know,

Can I play Halo 3 and run the emulators aswell?

(not at same time you know what I mean)

Mod chips are only worth about 5 bucks. It's having the skill to install it that is the pain in the ass. Sometimes the "hot spots" for putin' the chip in are really small (like the tip of a pin literally). If you can handle that stuff shoot me a PM.

You have a number of choices to mod an Xbox to run homebrew/emulators/media apps, etc.

There is no homebrew/emulators on the 360, any mod made is purely for piracy at this point.

Yup, and MS updates the dashboard at least twice a year, and has banned accounts from live for modding ;)

As was said... modding the XBox 360 is used purely for pirating at the moment. I have no problem with the bans.

My regular XBox has been modded for years and it is still able to access XBox Live. I accomplished this by creating a barrier between my mod and XBox Live (really the creators of the bios I use created the barrier.) I cannot access XBox Live with my mod active. It is blocked. The only way you will get banned is if your mod can be detected by MS and in that case they should ban away. Cheating would ruin Live. It ruined Halo 2 for a while.

I suppose you could mod it, but it violates the terms of service that you agree to when you sign on to live. You can still play all the games you want on your machine in an environment that you control. Problem is that many people mod consoles in order to cheat online, which is unfair to all of the other users.

Good news for you thogh!

Since there aren't any emulators available for it, and that's all you are interested in, you don't have to worry about it ;)

If you just want to play emulators on your TV screen, I suggest you pick up a regular XBox and have at it!

Unfortunately, Yes. But Modders will always find solutions to get around being detected by Microsoft, or any other establishment. Remember, no electronic device is totally secure. Plus modders usually have the upper hand advantage by using existing technology or being down right creative.

Will do that, Currently discovered a $200 crystal xbox in MINT no scratches it was shown to me this morning at school. it seems that the school has pickedup i collect because people come up to me with old NES games and i buy them lol. sort of funny actually. I bought a GBA SP for $5 from some kid

it has one minor scratch on entire thing =\ ( also he gave me 14 games)

But anyways,

Is the crystal XBox any different from the Normal black one?

Because i know PSPs not badly and PS2s

and i remember the different boards and how they made restrictions on the system and barriers which were harder to get around (they found a way but after a long long time)

so ya thats my question,

And for the xbox360

Oh well, im not gona touch a modchip in it then its not worth it.

How lame is microsoft to not let people put emulators on it,.

I understand though because of the cheating. Whoever cheats just shows they can't play a game

:)

They suck seriously. I don't ever cheat ( well minus on grand theft auto)

But that was after i hit 100% :)

it says 100% on my gamefile cheats used 0

:P

That took alot of time.

anyways thats drifting off topic. Yes cheaters suck.

And I just want emulators, like i could legally ask for roms seeing as I OWN the cartridges.

The thing i want emulators for is, I don't want wear on my old systems.

I have duplicate systems so I CAN play the carts tho ^^ but i mean

Like i only got one vectrex One sega master.. 2 NES ( the one i got free has an issue i can't fix...)

i want emulators for that oh well,

I guess ill see what i can do with a crystal xbox then.

Modding an XBox is the same for any version unless you are considering using a modchip. Really there is no reason to use a modchip anymore. Soft mods are easier to install (they didn't used to be) and they are just as functional (they didn't used to be.) You can install a softmod in a matter of minutes without opening the machine and the version of the machine is not important.
