2600 sounds in movies and new cartoon

I saw a a commercial for a new cartoon called Whatever happened to robot jones and I can hear 2600 Donkey Kong, along this cartoon uses a Steven Hawking's type voice synth.

 

Also I use to here 2600 pacman all over the place! I belive it was in Cannon Ball Run (1 or 2) for example.

 

Does anyone else hear this stuff or am I the only one that is crazy?

You are correct. I've not seen the cartoon you mention, however, 2600 DK and Pac-Man are the two that I hear almost any time video game sounds are dubbed into a movie or TV. It doesn't matter what game is being played or what system is in use; the "song remains the same"! I think I have heard 2600 Defender before too. Some of the old video game type movies like "Joysticks" and "The Wizard" used some of the real sounds from the actual games, but it just doesn't seem to matter to the producers anymore does it? :wink:
