Qix among the best? What? It's terrible compared to the 5200 version. I actually read that opinion here first, then compared them myself and was surprised how bad it is.

I've been on a major buying spree lately. I've added to my collection:

Space Invaders (I got the one different from the 5200, and I like it!)

Galaxian

Jumpman Jr.

River Raid

Pengo (again, not as good as the 5200)

Dig Dug

And I've got coming:

Pole Position

Millipede

Moon Patrol

Food Fight

Kaboom

But my one, single, favorite Atari computer game is without question Lode Runner.

Cartridge titles that I'd more regular play over others:

Star Raiders

Rescue on Fractalus

Pole Position

Moon Patrol

Miner 2049er

Donkey Kong

Jungle Hunt

Ballblazer

Hardball (better than a 15 minute load from tape!)

and not mentioned yet - Embargo

Quite fond of Decathlon and Track & Field too.

Synapse titles would have been good but we

tended to get cassette release here in the UK.

Others from the 'not in the day' school:

Gauntlet

Koronis Rift

The Eidolon

(of course those three are a bit biased ;))

Regards,

Mark

Pengo (again, not as good as the 5200)

Err... the 8-bit version of Pengo is exactly the same as the 5200 version.

Tempest

To me, there seemed to be some sound/music differences. The 5200 version seems more polished.

Yeah there may be some music differences. I seem to recall that now. I'll have to check that out.

One title I'd not seen mentioned, but that has always been near my 8-bit since I got it a few years ago: Zenji, a puzzle/action game from Activision where you have to manipulate a maze to make all of the segments connected while being chased. Love it!

OK for me... (random order too)

Ms. Pacman

Crossfire (I've sold this Cart in 1990... why did I do that?!?!?!?!!)

Barnyard Blaster (hehe you've hit Gramps... no bonus...)

Missile Command

Millipede

Star Raiders II

Qix

But I have to say: I'm not a Cart lover... I have all these games as working file (except for the barnyard blaster... that does not run on my real a8... that's a shame... who has a working file version that runs on REAL equipment?)

And about Qix: ok that a8 port is not as good as the 5200, but man... what a cool game.

Greetz.

OK, just got three new cart games - Food Fight, Millipede and Moon Patrol.

This is weird. Moon Patrol, like some games, seems just like the 5200 version. Yet there are other games that differ, like Qix and Pengo, and are better on the 5200.

Then there's Food Fight. Wow, the 7800 version is so much better. Is that common knowledge? I know the XE and 7800 were of the same time, roughly, but the XE is older tech... right?
