godzillajoe
Paul's Boutique is their best by far They're all in their early 40's by now, so they definitely grew up in the heyday of Atari and classic video games "and if I played Defender you could be my hyperspace" is in a song somewhere, though I forget which one at the moment Edited September 18, 2007 by godzillajoe
Rik
Yep,beastie boys were doin hip hop when most of todays hip hop artists were still swimming around in their fathers balls,or had diapers on. Cassidy Nolen
They interview Eugene Jarvis (creator of Defender) on the 5 buroughs (sp?) album about the ailen defenders and mutants. There are TONS of classic game references in their songs. Hello Nasty had a few. Neat to see the 2600 get love. They rock. Simply put, they have staying power when the industry is constantly changing. From Ill on, they remain my only rap favorite. I just can't get into rap. Something must be wrong with me, according to MTV anyway.... C

Red 5
I got licensed to ill on cassette! It is the ONLY cassette I have left As a sophomore in high school, the 3MTA3 on the plane was the coolest thing in the world. Compared to what's out now, 'Eat me' written as a hidden message on an album cover seems a bit tame, but at the time, it was bad ass. Mike OC
Ponce De Leon constantly on the fountain of youth not Robotron...(From the Sound of Science - Paul's Boutique) Beasties have loads of video game and Atari reference in their rhymes.
