You know you're a hardcore gamer if...

Recommended Posts

Basically, post ways people can find out how "hardcore" they are about gaming, no matter how retarded the term is in the first place.

You know you're a hardcore gamer if

you can build this.

You know you're a hardcore gamer if you can point out a flaw in something like that.

Shouldn't the Game Genie go in before the Sonic + Knuckles cart? :)

It's for a contest to make the tallest Genesis stack, it doesn't have to work. :P

...you lift up your keyboard and find enough cracker crumbs to sustain you for another 14 grueling hours of WarCrack.

Better yet, if you keep a bedpan next to you so you can eliminate bathroom breaks.

if it's for a contest, i could actually beat that. I have a import cart converter cart that allows me to play import carts on a US Genny, so I could remove the soccer game, then add the import cart + 1 of my import carts giving me +1 to your stack, so if you're out to win, find the converter and a cheap import cart and attach it.

I remember some guy on the RGVC newsgroup posting about how he was able to play both ends of a XonoX cart the same time by using a pair of 2600 Jrs in the TIE-Fighter formation, thats hardcore.

Now that I'd like to see! :)

Here's the thread you speak of:

That's funny.

I think the reason he put the EA cart on top, is because it adds another inch or so compared to a regular genny cart.

Anyway, I believe the point of this is, you gotta be hardcore if you HAVE the parts to build such an abomination.

BTW, can you use a 32X on a nomad?

No, they are incompatible (according to the Nomad manual at least...I've never tried it).

also you could "in theory" connect more than 1 sonic and knuckles right? So the height could be really extreme, unless the competition only allows 1, then the only thing I can think of to gain more height would be the cartridge needed to play imports.

They're only "incompatible" because the 32x blocks the A/V port on the Nomad, if I remember correctly. Besides that, the A/V plug is identical to that of the Genesis 2 and the guts are basically the same, therefore they are electronically compatible despite not being physically compatible.

You know you're a hardcore gamer when...

...you don't give a crap about labels like "hardcore gamer" and you just play video games on any console you can get your hands on, and by any manufacturer that makes a game that is fun :)

For a legit stack of Genesis goodness...just use a Model 1 SegaCD with a Model 1 Genesis attached, then the 32x, then the Genie cart, then an S&K cart, and plug Virtua Racing in that. You can't play VR racing...but it is the tallest genesis cart for a game I've seen. And the FCC would crap to see all those chips together like that....yeah!

Just wondering, anyone know if the guts of a Sega Pico are the same as a genny? If so, or at least if it would fit, the Pico cart, being a 10 inch (or so) tall book would top that stack quite nicely. :D

You can put any Genesis game on the S&K cart and play a game. It won't be the game you put on but if you hold down a,b,c ,and push start then you can play lots and lots of brand new bonus round stages that are like the ones from sonic 3 and S&K. So in reality it does work to put any ol game on S&K. But I'm sure you guys already knew that.

I used to love playing the bonus rounds when I was younger and got up to over level 200 doing this. They just keep going on and on and on.

If the tower doesn't need to work, I'd replace that EA sport on top with a power base converter, and add in any SMS game. That should add another 4 or 5 inches over what that EA cart would have. :D

For even more, lose Nomad, find the old Genny 1 and Sega CD 1 (probably 1" taller combined than Nomad) and shoehorn in Action Replay somewhere.

The Sega channel modem doesn't have a cart slot. You have to pull it out to play something else. :|

You know you're a hardcore gamer if: you have made a post in this thread actually debating the game stack and forgot to actually discuss the topic at hand, as the ins and outs of the proper gamestack rules needed to be discussed before you were comfortable enough to move on to other matters.

Oops! I should have known better. Oh well, the X-Band modem will have to take it's place then.

It's the tower of power! the master of blast processing! Genesis does what Nintendon't! ;)
