Gabriel #1 Posted September 23, 2007 So, I've got well over $100 of downloadable games on my 360. But let's say I want to buy a spiffy new Elite. Is there any way to transfer my content to it and not have to be signed in to Live in order to play my downloaded content? Does Microsoft have any kind of program to cancel the old console and lock the content to the new one? I'm guessing the answer is no, but if there is a way, maybe someone knows. I don't believe there is a way. Basically all the downloads you made with your old console will require you be signed in to Live. You can buy the transfer kit to transfer the whole HD to the new Elite drive, but you will still need to be signed in to access that content. Any new downloads you make should be fine. Here's the link for the free transfer kit. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemus...tamigration.htm BTW, I understand the need to combat piracy and all, but I wish they had gone another route. Really a pain. And even though I'm always signed into Live, I still wonder what happens 4 or 5 years from now. I certainly hope they have a way to transfer the games to the Xbox 720. BTW : Seems to me there is a process to get game transfered over where you can play them offline, but it involves creating a new gamertag and involving MS tech support, and like weeks of waiting. Really a hassle.
Shannon #3 Posted September 23, 2007 Unfortunately from what I can gather the answer is no. Which makes it a big friggin' pain in the neck cause I'd rather upgrade to the Elite and give my old 360 away to a family member. Microsoft really should provide a means around this, especially since they are getting into the downloadable movies/TV series thing. Only time my Xbox is hooke up to live is when it's hooked up to the big screen.
