MegaManFan #1 Posted September 23, 2007 So I bought the new XBox last Thursday and so far I'm impressed. The Live Arcade is nice, the option to stream music and video from my PC was a pleasant surprise, the fact I could connect my iPod to it and play it even more so (especially since it lets me add my own arcade soundtrack to games like Hexic and Pac-Man Challenge Edition). The one thing that seems to be missing is a web browser. I can surf the web with my Wii and my PS3 but what about the XBox? Am I missing something here? I don't see an option for one in any of the menus even though this thing is constantly connecting to the internet for live play, achievments, arcade downloads and demos, and even media downloads - or is that the reason WHY you can't surf the web? (They want to lock you into stuff you'd pay for and YouTube is free.)
moycon #2 Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) A web browser is coming. Altho, in my case I could care less...like you said,The Wii and the PS3 both do it...and I don't use em for it, so I suspect I wont with the 360 either. But rest assured. If you need to watch that YouTube video on all 3 of your systems, you will be able to. By the way, I get a kick out of the custom soundtracks too. One of our most played games is Solitair, it's very relaxing to kick back, pull up your favorite tunes, and play with yourself. MegaManFan #4 Posted September 23, 2007 By the way, I get a kick out of the custom soundtracks too. One of our most played games is Solitair, it's very relaxing to kick back, pull up your favorite tunes, and play with yourself. I hadn't even thought of trying it with Solitaire yet, but I'm sure I will. Actually I don't even know that's on my XBLA download list but since there are 10 new games every time I turn it on it's hard to keep track. It's a bit of a shame that I've only seen two free so far - Hexic and Aegis War. If Solitaire is free that will be a nice addition. It took me awhile to get used to the points scheme, because on the Wii I'm used to a 1 to 1 ratio (100 points = $1) but they just had to be freakin' confusing and make it 1 to 1.25, so 400 points is actually $5, and buying 2000 costs you $25 instead of $20. At least it seems pretty comparable once you get past that - it costs you 500 points to download Contra on the Wii and 400 to download it on XBox but in the end it's $5 either way. It freaked me out a little to see that it was the ARCADE version of Contra though, since I'm so used to playing the NES version. Next on my list - taking the shrinkwrap off Bioshock. Oh and if anybody's interested my XBox Live handle is (no surprise) TheMegaManFan.
Lord Helmet #5 Posted September 24, 2007 As long as the web browser is free I suppose I'm interested. I never use the Wii browser. If I need to get on the internet, I usually just use my laptop.
