Recommend some Genesis Games.... quick action stuff.

What are some good Genesis games for me to try that are.... how should I say...... more Atari 2600 like.

 

No rpg's, just games you can jump into and have a kinda arcade or 2600 feel to them.

Wiz & Liz? My wife didn't want to play games with "bad graphics" but she couldn't stop playing this one.

It's very fast pased and addictive, just like the arcade, but also has lots of hidden goodies to find.

 

It's definately one of those games that just wouldn't be playable on the snes.

Just tried out all mentioned... pretty good stuff. Ran across Shinobi 3... pretty cool.

 

Warmachine.. Wiz & Liz.... I'm glad you pointed that one out to me. Now I know there wasn't any drug testing policy back then at Sega.

What a trip. I had to go to the manual archive for that one.

 

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll try 'em all, so by all means if anybody thinks of some more, let me know.

Ball Jacks - two robot crabs at a bowling alley race to grab the balls from the other side and throw them at each other. Or something. It's like Pong for sociopaths.

Ristar, all the Sonics, Battletoads is really good on the Genny. Rock N Roll racing, though the SNES version looks and sounds better.

I've always honestly thought the Genesis was suprior when it came to arcade converstions over the SNES. In fact, I'm one of the few that really really likes the Adlib FM sound it cranks out. Most of the SNES waveform sound was of lower quality sampling and sounded the same to me on most games. The genesis was more customizable in this fact and with proper coding could really sound pretty damn good. So...I like it more as I always thought the Genesis games sounded more arcade like to me and played just as fast.

Alien Soldier - Arcade style shooting, almost entirely over the top boss battles. The SNES couldn't do this game - the picture above is me vs. a mid boss on the first level. I'd show you some of the better scenes, but this is where I die...
