sonnenhexer #1 Posted July 20, 2002 Hi, could anyone tell me how I can see if I have a PAL or NTSC-cart without putting it into a console? Some carts have a P besides the name on the smal label and some not, is this the difference? I ask because I have some carts double and want to trade, because they are no variations. Thanks Michael PS.: I have no console to test, not now, my one is "dead".
MattyXB #2 Posted July 20, 2002 If they have a P somewhere they a normaly PAL. But there are also PAL game without a P on them. Sometimes they have a P sticker at the back from the case. But if someone has remove it you have no chance to see it. The best is, test the games, by put them in the console and try it. The color are diffrent by the most NTSC games. But if you have no console you better wait and buy one cheap. First I have think I have a NTSC Gas Hog. But after I have get another on complete boxed with german name I have see that this is PAL too. But it has diffrent colore then the NTSC version on Emulator. So they have maybe not change all games to PAL? Normally you must have by PAL games on PAL console the same color as by NTSC games on Emulator. But not by all games is this correct. Fretwobbler #3 Posted July 20, 2002 I have tried downloading ROMs from Atariage(I presume they are NTSC if listed against a US game) and then comparing the colours to the cartridge I am testing. One problem though is that the emulators dont always seem to render colours identically to each other, this makes it difficult to deduce which emulator creates the colour that matches the original cartridge the closest, and therefore which one to use as a comparison not obvious.
