moycon #1 Posted September 25, 2007 Just curious what version(s) of Halo 3 you are getting (if any) and why. I personally got the Limited Edition mainly because I snagged it for the same price as the standard version and was interested in the hardcover book (I love books, The hardcover Guild Wars art book I got with the special edition of that game is a fav) and the audio-visual calibration tool. I'd be interested to see if anyone got the Legendary edition.
Mendon #2 Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) I am planning on picking up the regular edition of the game this morning. One note I'd like to make: there are many reports on various online forums that people getting the LE version are finding their disks scratched, some to the point of being unplayable. Seems that the disks are held in the metal tin with small plastic nub's that don't secure the disks properly, allowing the disks to become loose and bounce around in the tin during transport/handling (sort of like the problem encountered with the Prey LE version). Supposedly, MS is aware of the problem and will make some sort of announcement about the issue. In the meantime, you might want to open the package and inspect the disks before leaving the store if you purchase the LE version of the game. Here's a Link to a thread that includes pictures of damaged disks. Mendon Edited September 25, 2007 by Mendon
walter_J64bit #3 Posted September 25, 2007 I've got the Halo 3 Limited Edition. I wasn't going for that crap about Halo 3 Legendary Edition.
MegaManFan #4 Posted September 25, 2007 I pre-ordered the regular version, thinking over $50 for a game was enough as is, but thanks to Best Buy I was able to use a $5 Reward Zone certificate for that and another $5 one when I bought it today, plus because I pre-ordered I got a free Halo 3 hat and Halo 3 t-shirt. YEAHHHHHH.
Ghost Soldier #5 Posted September 25, 2007 I went with the limited edition. The only extra I got was a Halo 3 poster.

Red 5 #7 Posted September 25, 2007 Got the regular old vanilla version. I have bought the 'special edition' of so many games and now I officially quit on that front. I never watch the 'bonus dvd' and the art and crap I look through once and toss aside. It never helps re-sell value. The only thing I thought was that if I bought the legendary edition, it comes with Halo 1 and 2 so I could sell my old copies on the bay for probably 20 - 30 bucks bringing the price down a bit. Anyway... I went vanilla this time.
NE146 #8 Posted September 25, 2007 There are different editions??? What's different about them? pack ins?
Ghost Soldier #9 Posted September 25, 2007 The L.E. comes with a beastiary guide, and a few other thing's mainly artwork. The case is a nice steel case but it does have problem's. I had to take back my first Halo 3 L.E. due to scratche's on the disc. They put the disc holder's on the outer wall's of the case. During shipping the disc's fall off and rub against metal. Someone should have figured out that disc's and metal don't go together.
rxd #10 Posted September 25, 2007 I got the one with the helmet, which is kinda cool
+remowilliams #11 Posted September 25, 2007 Sweet, I got FUCKED by UPS. YET AGAIN. I hate them with a burning passion. Rescheduled Delivery: 09/26/2007 AN INCORRECT ROUTING AT A UPS FACILITY CAUSED THIS DELAY / THE PACKAGE WAS MISSORTED AT THE HUB. IT HAS BEEN REROUTED TO THE CORRECT DESTINATION SITE
Mendon #12 Posted September 25, 2007 A follow up to my previous post.... Microsoft has announced that it is replacing FREE of charge any damaged/scratched Halo 3 LE game disk and/or essentials disk until 12/30/07. This offer is currently limited to the LE version, not the standard or Legendary versions which apparently do not suffer the same fate. Ghost Soldier #14 Posted September 25, 2007 Latest update on the L.E. version is that the major chains are pulling them from the shelves. I had to settle for a refund of 10+dollars and a regular copy. I'm going to see if I can get the packaging including the bonus disc from microsoft. Video #15 Posted September 26, 2007 Chock me up as a Limited Edition person. I wanted the legendary one (and had the money) but our store got not one single copy of the game >( But the Limited version with the tin and extra books was cool. Just to bad the friggin disc holders sucked so bad, it's scratched. Do I have to ship anything back to Microsoft to get replacement discs? Mine work fine (as near as I saw) but I'd like new discs... Shannon #16 Posted September 26, 2007 I got the limited edition, although I believe the cd's are ok. Normally I would have gone with vanilla but my son is a big halo fan. The geek, uh I mean guy in front of me got the legendary edition. I also went ahead and picked up the special edition controllers. I was hesitant at first but I've been wanting to go wireless anyways. It's those stupid $15 recharge packs that I have to get next. Accessory crap is expensive. Oh and I picked up a Halo 3 faceplate and console skin. Lol musta been in a good mood today.
Lord Thag #17 Posted September 26, 2007 Got lucky and picked up a Legendary edition. That helmet is *awesome*. Oh, and I think this is the greatest game I have ever played. By a couple of orders of magnitude, actually. Even Bioshock can't touch this. I remember being a kid and wishing that someday, I would be able to play a game that looked as good as Star Wars. Today, I played one that looks even better. This game is absolutely ... breathtaking. I still haven't picked my jaw off the floor!

If so I might have to play it to see if you say it's better than Bio cause Bio is one of the best games I've ever played.
Lord Thag #19 Posted September 26, 2007 Is the real game better than the beta demo? If so I might have to play it to see if you say it's better than Bio cause Bio is one of the best games I've ever played. HELL yes, it's better than the demo! It's better than Bioshock, and it's better than anything I've ever played. It starts off slowly, and the intensity builds, and builds, until you are literally the last living thing that stands between hope and the destruction of the universe. You really feel like the main character in a major motion picture. The graphics, and more inportantly, the setting, are so well done, you feel like your playing a multi-million dollar sci fi epic, the voice acting, plot, and story arc are flawless, and will have your jaw on the floor, and the music is like nothing you've ever heard in a game. This game is a masterpiece. Hell, calling it a game is a disservice. You know how you feel when you saw the Lord of the Rings or Star Wars the first time? That's what it's like when you finish this game. Halo 3 is like nothing I have ever played. I'm astounded at what Bungie did here. In my book, Halo just went from being a really damn good game franchise to something that stands shoulder to shoulder with movies like The Return of the King. i haven't even touched the multiplayer yet. I couldn't put it down. I'm not amazed, I'm in awe.

Lord Helmet #21 Posted September 26, 2007 Since I'm not much in to multiplayer, I think I'll rent it and beat the campaign.
Video #22 Posted October 5, 2007 Well, I did manage to find a Legendary copy of halo, so I picked one of those up. Apparently, some places got a LOT of them, while others (ours) didn't get any. And since I had spacifically saved money for that version (minus what was spent to get the limited one) I got that today. So now I got one. Yay... And my friends call me a dweeb, but you know what? I just need a normal version to have a complete set
FastRobPlus #23 Posted October 5, 2007 I was given one of each by a friend in MGS. Interestingly, the helmet is not numbered. The STAND is numbered. I got number 60K something, and somebody else got one in the 300k range, and one person got one numbered 370 or something. I have no idea what number the helmet is, since it was almost certainly made at a different time. The stamp in the plastic dates it 12/2006.
Shannon #24 Posted October 6, 2007 I take it the Halo 1 & 2 versions that are included are just the xbox versions with slightly improved cut scenes?
Video #25 Posted October 6, 2007 I think the Halo 1 and 2 is JUST the cutscenes (I would have liked to get a new copy of 1 and 2 also, especially since you can't get new 1's in stores but eh..) I didn't know the helmet or stand was numbered, I took it out of the box once to look at it, but it's in storage now (cause you can't trust the bastids that come over here sometimes) I'll have to dig it out and see what it is. BTW...no books or whatever with the legendary one? I was kinda thining it was basically the same as the limited edition, with the helmet? Speaking of that, the helmet was a LOT bigger than I thought, I was thining fromt he sound of it, that it would be like 4 inches or so, but it's quiet a bit bigger than that....maybe half scale or something?..?
