Game Info

Coin-op originally released by Taito in 1981; ported to the NES by Taito and released in the US in 1991.

Other platforms: Everything, almost. I don't know if this list is complete; probably not: Amiga, Apple II, Atari 8-bit, Atari 5200, Commodore 64, DOS, Game Boy, J2ME, Lynx

Related games/sequels: Volfied (Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, DOS, Genesis, J2ME, TurboGrafx-16, 1989), Qix II: Tournament (Coin-op, 1981), Super Qix (Coin-op, 1987), Twin Qix (Coin-op, 1995)

Tips

Artlover:

Use the tree branch method. Use the quick draw to box in the qix in a corner, then use the slow draw to fill the entire screen in one shot for a good 75% of high scoring goodness. If you can, split the qix atleast the first couple of times, and rack up a couple of point multipliers. Continue using the tree branch method, but don't concern yourself with waiting till the end to fill the screen anymore, as by this time the minimum threashold is so high, you don't have to worry about getting to close to it and reaching the end of the level too soon. Just go ahead and divide the playfield in half asap (using slow draw for the final branch of course), then start branching away in the remaining half till you can pass the minimum threshold

A good deal of your points come from the bonuses, not straight game play. Focus on trying to exceed the minimum threshold as much as possible.
