Lauren Tyler #1 Posted September 26, 2007 I'm referring to the first ones with the screenshots of the gameplay (OK, composite ones) on the boxes and cartridges. I've often wondered which ones are the rarest of the bunch.
Tempest #2 Posted September 26, 2007 Probably Stack-Up and DK Jr. Math. Tempest
PressureCooker2600 #3 Posted September 26, 2007 On a somewhat similar note.... What all games were re-released in the NES Classic Series? I know of Metroid.
ApolloBoy #4 Posted September 26, 2007 On a somewhat similar note.... What all games were re-released in the NES Classic Series? I know of Metroid. Both Zelda games and Punch-Out were rereleased.
MausBoy #5 Posted September 27, 2007 I think Dragon Warrior was re-released in the classics series too, when it was given away with NP subscriptions.
Lauren Tyler #6 Posted September 27, 2007 Probably Stack-Up and DK Jr. Math. Tempest What about Clu Clu Land? I don't think I ever saw that during that time?
SINGLE TOOTH #7 Posted September 27, 2007 i love the early nes games.
Uzumaki #8 Posted September 30, 2007 I have Clu clu box and I've seen a few back when Funcoland were still selling NES games. Clu Clu Land isn't rare. I'd put that game as uncommon. I know Kid Icarus, Metroid, Mario Bros, SMB, Duck Hunt (and the combo SMB/DH) Wind Gunmen, Mach Rider, and many of the early Nintendo sport games were with pixeliated art work. (a few 3rd party games featured such art work but less often) I'd have to dig up my copy of Official Player Guide to Nintendo to find the picture of early NES game boxes. A2600 #9 Posted September 30, 2007 I would vouch also like tempest said for DK MATH and Stack-Up those dont show up as often as othe early gen NES games
PressureCooker2600 #10 Posted September 30, 2007 I love Clu-Clu Land.......that game needs to be in the NES HSC sometime. I picked that up a while back and that game is one of those games that's hard as hell but addicting.
superjudge3 #11 Posted October 1, 2007 Nintendo needs to bring back the Startropics series. I know they weren't early game releases like you asked for, but both of the games were excellent and fun(although probably not very rare). I'm surprised Nintendo never did anything with them after that.
+Psionic #12 Posted October 1, 2007 Nintendo needs to bring back the Startropics series...I'm surprised Nintendo never did anything with them after that. Good games, but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a sequel. I don't think they sold anywhere near as well as Nintendo had hoped...I remember seeing stacks of them in bargain bins. chrisbid #13 Posted October 1, 2007 stack up with the robot blocks is going to be the toughest find as far as standalone carts, i concur with tempest the second wave would probably be mach rider and clu clu land
