zach1845 #1 Posted September 29, 2007 I have been collecting video games for years. One of my best finds was today at a garage sale for 25 cents i got a complete copy of spiderman web of fire for 32x Very fun and addicting game and hard to find. they also had lunar 2 and valkre profile for playstation for 1.0o each. You can find almost and game you want at yard sales and im amazed people pay so much for these games when they are obtainable via salvation armys and garage sales. Wester #2 Posted September 29, 2007 People pay the prices because the games aren't that common or are in high demand, it's not like you can just go into any thrift store or garage sale and expect to find rare games, finds like yours are very rare. I've been hunting for years and have only found a few rarities.
zach1845 #3 Posted September 29, 2007 yea it does take alot of effort. for every rare game there are 50 sports games. but even those can be fun games.

Well, the key is patience. Otherwise you'll have to trade for what you want or buy online or from a retailer and pay the asking price. Also it helps if you don't have other collectors in your area. Video games are a VERY popular item at garage sales/thrifts even with non-gamers. Ironically if even a few gamers in your area took your advice here to heart, the "finds" in your area might get so thinned out that it wouldn't be worth it to go to garage sales and thrift stores Congrats on the nice find! Hope you get many more
shadow460 #5 Posted September 29, 2007 You don't find rare games in the wild, rather, they seem find you. I just about fell flat when Tengen Tetris found me for $25, and when both StarCraft 64 (not that rare, really) and Ogre Battle 64 found me for $20 each. I've found up to R6 titles in the wild. My last awesome find was River Raid II (2600) for 95 cents. I grabbed it instantly, without regard to whether or not I'd have money left for food. Wester #7 Posted September 29, 2007 The area you live in makes a huge difference too. I live in a small town in Northern Michigan, I'm sure I'd have a lot more luck if I were, say, in Miami FL or New York or something. As it stands 2 of my best 3 finds I got while I was on vacation in Florida (Chrono Trigger, E.V.O.), other than those two my best up here has probably been Raft Rider. The area I live in the pawn shops sell all games for around 4.00 each while i know some places they look up games on the pc to see the value even at swap shops. PS EVO for Snes is a great game.
