Damon Plus #1 Posted September 30, 2007 (edited) Yes, it is a different take on in a topic I did a while ago (Link for those who are interested). That time, I asked which one was overall, the best year for the Lynx by looking at game releases. Now, I ask which do you think was the bests games released in every year the Lynx was being marketed (just for fun, I'll add some honorable mentions in Italics): 1989 Blue Lightning California Games Chip´s Challenge Electrocop Gates of Zendocon Gauntlet 3 A VERY hard year to decide which were the best games. I think California Games is the best overall, but Chip's Challenge is not far behind. From the other 4, I think Blue Lighting is great as well. 1990 APB Block Out Crystal Mines 2 Klax NFL Football Ms. Pac-Man Ninja Gaiden Paperboy Roadblasters Robosquash Rygar Shangai Tods adventures in Slime World Toki Warbirds Xenophobe Zarlor Mercenary This year is even harder. I think Slime World is a masterpiece, but so are Shanghai, Warbirds and Klax. And just a step below are good games like Zarlor Mercenary, Xenophobe, Toki, Paperboy... 1991 Awesome Golf Baseball Heroes Bill and Ted´s Excelent Checkered Flag Dracula Fidelity Ultimate Chess Ishido Pac-Land Qix Rampage Rampart Robotron 2084 Scrapyard Dog Steel Talons S.T.U.N Runner Super Skweek Tournament Cyberball 2072 Turbo Sub Viking Child Xybots I think S.T.U.N Runner is more impressive overall, but Rampart is one of the best Lynx games as well. There are lots of "not-quite-must-haves" this year too: Scrapyard Dog, Qix, Rampage, Xybots, Awesome Golf... 1992 Basketbrawl Batman Returns Dynolimpics Dirty larry Hockey Hydra Kung Food Lynx Casino Pinball Jam Pit Fighter Power Factor Shadow of the Beast Switchblade 2 World Class Soccer Probably the worst year for the Lynx. Only SOTB is outstanding, while most of the other games range from good to horrible. 1993 Batllewheels Desert Strike Double Dragon European Soccer Gordo 106 Hard Drivin Jimmy Connors Tennis Joust Lemmings Malibu Bikini Volleyball Ninja Gaiden 3 Super Off Road 1994 Battlezone 2000 Super Asteroids and Missile Command Do you agree with my choices? lynxmatt1980 #2 Posted October 1, 2007 (edited) I agree with some of your picks. But I disagree on a few. first. In 1990, you put the best game that came out was Tods adventures in Slime World.... I would definitely put Roadblasters ahead of that. I would put Desert Strike and Lemmings as a tie for 1993. Both games are awesome, and I am trying to aquire both for my collection. *Oh and btw, what did you use for your source on release dates? Some release dates are confusing. Like Warbirds for example, it says Copyright 1990 when you start it up, but the label says 1991. Same with Steel Talons (1990 vs 1992?) +karri #3 Posted October 1, 2007 What a nice thread! Please go on. I would like to have a list beyond 1994. In a way a list to show what kind of activity the Lynx had after Atari would be nice to see also. -- Karri
Atari5200 #4 Posted October 1, 2007 i'd put Power Factor over Shadow of the Beast, and damn TAISW or Roadblasters, i think i'd have to put Roadblasters on top, that one's almost too close to call.
ls650 #5 Posted October 2, 2007 I don't really care for Slime World myself, so there's no way I'd say it beats KLAX or Shanghai.

I'd say Lemmings is quite a bit better than Desert Strike, that's why I've put it as the best 1993 game. I don't remember which source I used, but it was probably Atariage. I don't really care for Slime World myself, so there's no way I'd say it beats KLAX or Shanghai. There's quite a bit of controversy this year, huh? I'll add Roadblasters as an honorable mention, and of course, I' ll change games if more opinions are added to the thread.
Gregory DG #7 Posted October 2, 2007 (edited) Here's my picks: 1989 Blue Lightning (Gotta go with the jaw-dropping visuals.) 1990 KLAX (The #2 puzzle game of all time, right behind Tetris.) 1991 S.T.U.N Runner (The only home console version!) 1992 Dinolympics [tie] Pinball Jam (Both are great. One puzzle, one action.) 1993 Battlewheels (Probably my #1 most impressive looking Lynx game.) 1994 Super Asteroids and Missile Command (Fun for a quick game.) ls650 #8 Posted October 2, 2007 1990 KLAX (The #2 puzzle game of all time, right behind Tetris.) I was just playing KLAX last night. That is a truly well-crafted version and would be a credit to any console, never mind an 18-year old portable! The graphics and gameplay are great, but the digitized clapping and cheering really add to the play atmosphere.
SwedenLynxer #9 Posted October 3, 2007 1995 Krazy Ace Miniature Golf! (definitely the best Lynx game released this year)
The_Laird #10 Posted November 6, 2007 I would go with: 1989 Gates Of Zendocon 1990 Zarlor Mercenary 1991 STUN Runner 1992 Shadow Of The Beast 1993 Lemmings 1994 Super Asteroids/Missile Command Also Hard Drivin' actually came out in 1991 - I remember buying that and STUN Runner at the same time
