Jericho Demo

First off, I've been anticipating this game for a bit. I was a huge Clive Barker fan back in the day and this game looked pretty damn creep-a-delic. The demo includes a video about the game, Tells the back story (very very cool) and an introduction to the characters on the squad. My feeling after listening to the rundown was that the game borrows aspects of many other games. It's kinda cool that it ties them all together in this super squad i guess, but I've been there before. As the squads names and abilities unfold, I saw what I thought was the game in action and thought, what a piece of crap. It looks worse than Two Worlds!

 

Luckily once you begin the demo, you'll realize that this is one good looking game. Not sure what the deal was in the little video, maybe it was not in HD or something. I played though the demo and enjoyed it very much, although, like I said gameplay seemed very familiar, not just because it was yet another FPS, but because a lot of the little special abilities your squad members have, we've all seen before. This one has telekeniesis, that one can shoot a guided bullet, etc... Also this game has the cut-scenes guided by "press the button we show you". I noticed in the one in the demo, if you screw up right away you'll fall to your death. If you make it most of the way down and screw up, you'll fall to the ground and the creature will pounce on you....you still have to play Simon Says, as you fend off his attack. Kinda cool and a bit different. (Altho I really kinda am over these type of cut-scenes)

 

The music and over-all ambiance I thought was very well done. The graphics were creepy and sharp. Maybe not quite up there with BioShock, but not half-assed like Two-Worlds. I still want to get this eventually. I'm guessing this probably won't be a huge hit though, a little too much deja-vu for some, and a little too many FPS games coming out for others.

I downloaded this yesterday morning, but when I got home last night my kids were playing it! I ended up too busy to play anyway. I should be able to play tonight. But from what I saw in the demo, it does look pretty sharp. But I really don't know if I'll be able to play this game any time soon if I buy it. I still haven't finished Bio Shock yet! The game list keeps on getting longer.
