Anybody have any info on Loki?

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I played a really cool arcade game at a hockey arena a while back called Loki. I believe it's from 1983 and was only released in the arcade form. You were a gorilla who spit fireballs or threw coconuts or something along those lines. It was kinda cross between Adventure Island and Contra since it was a lot of shooting stuff, but you also had a lot of running, jumping, platforms, trampolines, that kinda stuff.

Is this game really obscure? I can't find any information about it online. I really want to play the rom on MAME but I can't get it to work. Does anybody have a working version? Any help is appreciated.

Adam

P.S. If the mention of the rom is frowned upon here then I'd be happy to edit it out.

Toki was also released for the Lynx and I *think* the Atari ST/Amiga. There's a prototype for the 7800 out there somewhere (well at least according to internal Atari paperwork).

I loved Toki. Not an easy game to finish, especially since it sets you

back to a ways before the boss when you die. It only allows 5 continues

on the last level, so even beating it in MAME is quite a challenge. I can

only do it on the easier levels. Some of the bosses have a power up just

before the checkpoint that you can only use the first time you face the

boss. I could never defeat the frozen mammoth boss without the double

shot power, since I can't figure out how to dodge his trunk. Once you die

aganist him, you have to somehow survive against him twice as long as

the power up is no longer available...
