Laner #1 Posted October 9, 2007 (edited) OK, Yorgle was kind enough to set me up with an 800XL... now, I need some cables Specifically, an SIO cable as well as a video cable. I've checked ebay and other suppliers, but the shipping prices are completely unreasonable for a >1lb cable. Anyone have extras lying around they'd be willing to sell, without marking up the shipping prices above the actual product cost? nathanallan #2 Posted October 9, 2007 Was there ever a harddrive for the 8-bit? I know you can hook up to a PC for virtual drives, or use a 1050 fdd, but not sure about a hard drive. Anyhoo, I just ran across an ebay sale to get your feet wet. there's very little description, so if you're interested I'd clarify what's included with the seller. yorgle #4 Posted October 9, 2007 I've got a working 800xl that I'd be willing to trade for some 2600 cartridges (joust, warlords, keystone capers, maze craze, in particular). You really don't need a floppy drive unless you already have programs/games on disks (or like me, you really want the "retro experience" of using floppys". You can pick up an sio2pc for less than $30 from a number of vendors and that will allow you to set up 8 virtual floppy drives on a pc or laptop. PM me if you are interested.
