Falcon Disassembly: Any tricks I should know?

Recommended Posts

OK I am a new Falcon owner as of yesterday. :D I picked up the one offered in the AA market place.

I want to disassemble the computer so I can clean it up inside (clean out dust and

other unwanted dead guests) don’t want to screw anything up so I thought I would

ask here if there is anything should be aware of.

Is it just a simple disassembly, remove the screws from under the computer and it

will come apart or is there any type of trick I should know ?

Looks like I will need to punch a hole in the “void warranty if removed” sticker.

Don’t want to damage the serial number label, are there any screws under there?

System specifics

===========

Unmodified 4MB RAM 80MB Hard Drive

with

Two Bournelli 150 MB External hard drives (SCSI)

SVGA Adapter

And original Falcon operating system Floppy disk’s

Thanks in advance

FND

Vert straight forward. Yes you have to punch the sticker. Work slow you will be ok! I recently removed the whole MB to unsolder the dead NV RAM chip. Installed TOS 4.04 while I was in there...

Thanks for the confirmation. Wanted to make sure before I started.

Also talked to Alex from ATY Computers today about the Clock Module Replacment and its still 40.00

Next I will need to call Best about getting the Ram upgrade and some extra Clock chips

Nice to live here in the Bay area its just a short trip to San Jose to pick up the Best Electronics parts

and then another quick trip to Oakland and ATY (about 10 to 15 Miles to either place from home)
