as_the_gavel_falls #1 Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) Number 1 = start game Space Bar = fire Arrows = Move Number 2 = game select Adventure Enduro Space Invaders It will work with any rom file. They're all linked from the game pages. No sound yet. Enjoy! Edited October 19, 2007 by as_the_gavel_falls

DaveD #4 Posted October 17, 2007 Works for me. Mac G5/OS 10.3.9 & Safari. Although it's slow to the point of not being worth it and there's no sound. Should there be sound?

BigO #6 Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) It's not working for me either. I get an empty picture box (red X in the corner) and the status bar shows "Downloading picture http: // img.atariguide.com/ss.2801756.gif?idx=nnnnnnn" where nnnnnn is a sequence of numbers changing so fast that I can't catch what they are. I tried to capture a screen shot to show what I was getting. After I hit the PrtScrn button, an image did appear shortly thereafter. 15 or 20 seconds later, the image went back to blank with the red X. At no time did the status bar ever stop showing the loading. What is this thing doing, rendering a bunch of different images to draw the screen? I was attempting to play Space Invaders: http://img.atariguide.com/runtime.php?rom=Spcinvad The image that came up was colored like the image in the real game before you start it, but, there were some chunks missing from the shields as though it was an end of game image. Maybe it's just a static splash? While the image was displayed, none of the specified control buttons had any effect. (They also did nothing when the image wasn't displayed) I could not replicate the PrtScrn thing 100% of the time (probably 75% or better), but I never saw an image if I didn't do it. It could just be that I'm impatient and the image appearing after the button press was a concidence. If it means anything, the title appearing in the browser window is "JavaScript key press event" That was while running IE6 SP-2 on Windows XP SP-2. On Firefox [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7], I actually see an image right away with a superimposed message of "Please wait". Eventually the wait message goes away, the image remains visible, but I can't get the game to start. PM me if there's anything more specific you want me to test or additional details you want to gather. Edited October 17, 2007 by BigO

I have not tested on IE b'c I didn't think anyone used that browser anymore . There's some timing-dependant javascript, so for now consider IE borken and download firefox. I changed the refresh timings give it another shot. It is tough to debug, I'm using a VPN tunnel to force my browser to come in over the internet. This is only going to work on a good broadband connection. If you're idle (don't push any buttons) for about 20 seconds the emulator exits and the screen stops updating (for those that can get it to update). Krytol #10 Posted October 17, 2007 Works on Firefox in OS X 10.4. Speed is "correct" but it's very jumpy, as if it hangs every 1/2 second, then catches up.

potatohead #12 Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) Can see target game screen, but still loading... I'm on DSL 3Mb/sec DL Not sure if I should press a key or not, still lots of browser activity, and this is an edit, another minute later. Pressed the key, nothing... Assuming it's still loading... potatohead #13 Posted October 17, 2007 Browser said done, so I hit the 1 key. Nothing, but it did go and load some stuff. Computer running with some additional latency, so I'm assuming it's doing someting! XP, 4GB RAM, Firfox 2.x series. I'm on a laptop, is there a difference between the numeric keypad keys and the ordinary number keys? Sorry... didn't see anything but the adventure select screen. Hi, try this, don't wait for the browser to finish loading, just hit 1 as soon as you see the adventure screen come up. Otherwise the emulator will exit after about 15-30 seconds and the image will never update (because there's no emulator running anymore). I will work on putting up a "game over" screen when that happens. Jason
BigO #16 Posted October 17, 2007 It now runs on IE6. It's not quite playable, but it's getting there. It runs slightly better in Firefox. Esc doesn't seem to do anything in either browser. If it sits unattended in IE for some period of time, I can't restart the game. It's most definitely headed in the right direction.

Chris-in-NJ #21 Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) It works, slowly, on my Vista with Firefox, however, when I hit the up and down arrow keys, the entire screen moves, rather than just what's in the game image (if that makes sense). This is because your browser window is too small. Try making the browser full screen. I'm not really sure how to disable that for the arrow keys but I'll try to figure it out. potatohead #25 Posted October 19, 2007 Me neither. And if so, I don't think it works for me. I really miss the joystick. I could probably make it work with stelladaptor... This one took right off. IMHO, key repeat and latency were the biggest killers on the Adventure game. Was able to play it though, so that's totally an improvement. Getting closer!
