Who appears in the most videogames?

What living person appears in the most video games and on the most systems? Jackie Chan? Arnold Schwarzenegger? Hulk Hogan? Harrison Ford? John Madden?

Going by the title alone, I would have said Mario. Even if not the main character, he has appeared as umpire and refere in many sport games. I think the 8 bit NES alone has about 30 or 40 appearances of Mario.

 

As for living character... hmmm... Madden? He's appeared on NFL games every year for over a decade on almost every platforms so his count could be over 50 total games.

Good point. I should have limited the question to playable characters - Hulk Hogan, for instance, beats out even Mario.

are we talking about Fictional characters or real people? Mario is not a real person, and the initial question made it sound like real people.

 

If you're talking about real people, yeah, it'd have to be Madden, if your talking about fictional people, I would say Mario followed closely or maybe even just as much as Mario...Mega Man.

don't they have it so you can unlock teams from different decades/eras?

 

I thought you could play as the '68 packers for instance.

 

Madden used to play football, maybe he is on one of those teams and is playable.

Outside of sports you really cant forget about Stallone. I'd wager with Rocky, Rambo and all those crappy action movies he's made he could be number one. One of my finds this week, Cliffhanger for Sega CD.

Either Arnold Schwarzenegger (Total Recall, Predator, True Lies.....) or Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Ressurection, Alien Trilogy.....).

Well the question did say appears and doesnt say that the person in question is playable in the game so i still think Madden stands.

There's actually a secret code in the new Madden game that let's you play as Madden himself...he has a nasty stiff-arm!

Yep, he was in a SNES game called "The Final Option"... fortunately the game was never released!
