FibroFreak78 #1 Posted October 20, 2007 Horse Racing..... Pics were shown, among other games,in the coleco catalog and on the console box,but I never knew if it was released or not (as I would like to eventually have this one).... Thanks!
Pixelboy #2 Posted October 20, 2007 Horse Racing was one of those games that Coleco never released, along with Wild Western, Dracula, Mr. Turtle, etc. Back in Coleco's early days, they would make mockups and present them to the public as a marketing tactic, to gauge consumer interest, and also to make competitors sweat a little. Such titles as Horse Racing probably never even reached the prototype stage.
FibroFreak78 #3 Posted October 20, 2007 Bastards!...lol I saw the picture and thought the game looked sooo cool...ah well...thanx for the imput,it was what I wasn't hoping to hear
+Psionic #4 Posted October 20, 2007 Such titles as Horse Racing probably never even reached the prototype stage. No, it did not. If you're looking for a decent horse racing game, try Steeplechase for Atari 2600 or Horse Racing for Intellivision.

riffraff #6 Posted October 21, 2007 The game I wanted but never game out for Coleco was the Dungeon's & Dragons type game they showed a mock up of. Damn you! There is a good horse racing game on the modern consoles from Tecmo. Gallop Racer 2003

+Psionic #10 Posted October 21, 2007 Should've followed through with the pics in the book/on the box :-(Ah well...what can ya do? Well, you can blame Coleco's marketing department...they moreso than anyone had the say in which games ended up being made. They simply didn't think a horse racing game would sell well. Vic George 2K3 #12 Posted October 21, 2007 Rather disappointing that the CV Horse Racing game never came out, as neither did their would-be AD&D clone Tunnels & Trolls.

+Psionic #14 Posted October 22, 2007 Good Luck tracking a copy of it down, Video Gems games are pretty hard to find The PAL Video Gems release is very hard to find, but the NTSC release is a mildly uncommon Sears title. https://www.atari2600.com/item--Steeplechase--PROD931.html
A.J.
