8th lutz #1 Posted October 23, 2007 (edited) http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/zeldacdi/zeldacdi.htm The interviewer made some personal comments about the game after finishing the interview with creator. Those comments should be ignored like claiming Link: the faces of evil and Zelda: the wand of Gamelon is two of the greatest 100 games he ever played. To read the interview, go to the link I provided. Edited October 23, 2007 by 8th lutz
Lemmi #2 Posted October 23, 2007 very interesting interview, thanks i wouldnt put any of the CDi zelda games in my top 100, but the games arent as bad as most people say they are and out of the 3 i had more fun playing the last one Zeldas Adv. which wasnt made by the guy in the interview at first i hated the the first 2 because i only had a remote to play them but after getting a hard wired controller they became alot easier and more fun to play

Uzumaki #4 Posted October 23, 2007 There are 3 Zelda games made for CDi but only one is even worth thinking about playing. The other 2 are better left sealed and untouched.
Tempest #5 Posted October 23, 2007 Having actually played the two Zelda games in question I can sum them up in three statements: 1. The backgrounds are gorgeous for a CD-i game (or any game at the time for that matter) 2. The controls are stiff and awkward. This makes the game not a lot of fun to play 3. The animated cutscenes are horrendous! Not only are they completely ugly, but they're just plain repulsive! Tempest
Lord Thag #6 Posted October 24, 2007 Those games made me shoot soda out my nose. The CDi has so many hillarious games. Try playing Kether sometime. It's like the game equivalent of an out of body experience. just don't drink any soda.
+remowilliams #7 Posted October 24, 2007 CDi Zelda games creator speaks: Yes, the the CDi really did suck!!
Lucas #8 Posted October 29, 2007 The CD-i titles are common titles that get made fun of by people who've never even seen a CD-i console. The "If the game magazines say it, it must be true" philosophy holds strongly still. However I do recall one magazine admitting that the first two had decent gameplay (I think it was Gamepro way back when). It is like making fun of SuperMan 64. Not many people have played the game, but just about everyone says how bad it is. Not that it is a good game by any means though.
+remowilliams #9 Posted October 30, 2007 The CD-i titles are common titles that get made fun of by people who've never even seen a CD-i console. Possibly. But I played the damn thing when it was on the shelf new. And I have Superman 64 too.
Ze_ro #10 Posted November 1, 2007 It is like making fun of SuperMan 64. Not many people have played the game, but just about everyone says how bad it is. Not that it is a good game by any means though. Yep, though the CD-i Zelda games have it even worse because the FMV scenes make things look SO bad. At least SuperMan 64 sorta looks okay in screenshots. If the cutscenes were left out, I doubt the games would get nearly as much ridicule. It's sort of sad how the CD-i gets dumped on so much... it really wasn't meant to be a game system in the first place. Considering how little they had to work with, it's amazing what developers managed to do with the machine. Imagine asking someone to make a Zelda game for DVD players. --Zero
2600Lives #11 Posted November 1, 2007 I've played the CD-I Zelda games, and they're TERRIBLE. Maybe not E.T. terrible, but pretty close. Crapariffic cutscenes, and clunky, unintuitive gameplay. The graphics are passable, but it's just polish on a turd. So, they're in the top 100 games he's ever played? What, are the only games he's ever played are 100 copies of the Mary Kate and Ashley games on the GBA? That's ludicrous saying they're in the top 100. I can find 100 games released in just the last 3 years or so that destroy those Zelda games in every single aspect.
Bruce Tomlin #12 Posted November 4, 2007 There are 3 Zelda games made for CDi but only one is even worth thinking about playing. The other 2 are better left sealed and untouched. ...and that's the one that's rare as hell, so not enough of us haven't experienced it to know if it's a stinker too. And it doesn't help any that CDi games are XA discs, and not trivial to burn. Sure, it's easy if you get the right image for your specific burning program, but XA images are a lot less standardized than plain vanilla 2048-byte-block ISO-9660. And if you don't have a Windows PC with a burner, you're SOL. http://youtube.com/results?search_query=%2...7s+adventure%22 So the cut scenes seem to be sort of Myst-esque, but the gameplay is like a laserdisc overlay game, only instead of FMV, it uses static backgrounds which scroll from area to area. Move, wait, move, wait, move, wait. The really sad part is that all three could probably be remade as Flash games with much higher performance and better graphics. Atarifever #13 Posted November 5, 2007 and they're TERRIBLE. Maybe not E.T. terrible, but pretty close. What you've just said is basically "Not 'great game' terrible, but pretty close to great". How's that help your point?
