Quick contest in celebration of my 250th post

Recommended Posts

Although there are slim pickings in my area, I continue to find one game over and over again. There is this one video game store that seems to have an endless supply of Pitfall II. Everytime I go in there, a new Pitfall II is laying among the commons. The guy charges $5 a cart, which isn't worth it for most of the stuff he had, but is a good deal for Pitfall II. Over the past few months, I have bought 4 copies from him and found 2 more at flea markets. I decided that since I just got past the 250 mark that I should have a contest to give one of them away.

My contest is this: Can you figure out how I got my first 2600? I will give you a hint to start: I _5_ my _10_

I will provide more clues if no one gets it. Also, ONE guess per person please until I provide the next clue. This contest is open to everyone.

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!!

Please email me with your address.

I probably should have checked my old posts before I decided to do this contest. I didn't realize I put the answer there, but oh well.

The clue was I _5_ my _10_ (5 and 10 are the number of letters in the words: broke and collarbone)

When I was in 3rd grade, I was playing at school during recess. There were these tires that were half in the ground that we would play on. I ran up and jumped on top of one, but slipped off and fell shoulder first on the ground. I didn't hurt too bad at first, but when I tried to stand up straight, I realized I couldn't. I had to walk back to the school bent over. Well, it ended up where the ambulance had to come to school to bring me to the hospital.

Once my parents got there, my mom asked if there was anything I wanted that would make me feel better. I immediately asked for an Atari. My dad and brother went out to local K-mart and brought it back to the hospital for me to see. I was so excited when my dad came into the waiting room with it. I could not wait to get home to play.

When I did get home, we hooked it up and my brother and I played pac-man and combat all night. One of my friends let me borrow a bunch of his games and I played constantly for the next few weeks waiting for my collarbone to heal.

We're all very spoiled here in the forums. These are some of the best laid out, easy to navigate forums you will ever find :D I just did a search (at the top) using "bcprs1" as the username and "first atari" as the search field. Here's what I found...

Not too hard really. I finally decided to post something about it when the thread got really quiet. :D

And let me say Thank You! again to bcprs1 for doing this. As usual, it's the people in here that make Atari great! :D

Damn, Jeff beats me again!

I was stuck trying to think of any past-tense, 5-letter verbs. Man, my guess was lame!

As soon as I read this thread, I jumped off our balcony and broke my leg, hoping that my dad would buy me some new video games. I forgot that it probably doesn't work when you're 30 and your dad lives in another city. Oh, well.

But I know what you all were just thinking, even if only for a split second.

"Well, worth a try."

Wow, that has to be the best use of the search function I've seen yet! Great work, Jeff!
