Genesis emulation abruptly stops working?

Recommended Posts

Recently, I tried loading up Gens, only to find that it wouldn't load. It would open the window, but it wouldn't do anything. Putting the mouse over it would cause an hourglass to appear, like it was still loading, but nothing was happening. Same with GensPlus, and MESS wouldn't load it at all.

Does anyone know why it's doing this, and what can be done? I really enjoy using Gens and I can't imagine why it would stop working just like 'that.'

Well, have you installed anything on your computer recently? Like, shortly before Gens stopped working? Although it's uncommon, sometimes programs will fight for resources and interfere with each other, making one difficult or impossible to run.

What I'd suggest is the following: first, uninstall Gens, then reinstall it. Next, if you have installed any recent programs, uninstall those, testing Gens after removing each one. Next, flush your system of spyware and adware, and give it a virus scan just to be on the safe side. If you've done all of this and Gens still isn't working, switch to a different Genesis emulator. I personally recommend Kega Fusion.

I second Jess Ragan, use Kega Fusion, it is a much more stable emulator. I particularly like the option it has of "perfect sync". When run through a TV it scrolls as smoothly as a real genesis/mega drive. Also it runs 32x, mega cd, master system and game gear :)

I have used gens and run into the same problem.
