New Star Raiders version from Stefan Dorndorf

Hi,

 

Star Raiders is one of the best Atari games with a little mistake in the game play. If you shoot a enemy chip the screen will be frizzed a little time.

The ground: to many explosion pixel.

 

Stefan Dorndorf has patched this game.

I just tried this. It works as advertised. The "dot cloud" of an explosion is only about an eighth as dense making for barely perceptible lag after a kill.

Kewl. Any chance of working up a fully comented disassembled source file?

Hello MEtalGuy66,

sorry but Stefan did´nt make a assembler source code file from Star Raiders.

He relocated the game from $a000 to $4000 and patched it.

So all this patch does is make the explosions *less* impressive? Who wants that?

 

What I'd like to see is someone update Star Raiders to run in single-line resolution mode, and use faster math routines.

I rather prefer the slowdown, with the big explosions. With the slowdown, there's times when your photons leap out at 2x speed for a 1-2 punch. And if another enemy is in their path, it's like a bonus kill with even more shit on-screen!

 

And the colors are not right in the modded version.. Ohh well..
