arcadia/starpath games on cart?

With the up most respect; Isn't that project more vaporware than hardware though?

You have every right to call it vaporware right now, as would I if the tables were turned. Nevertheless, the project is still moving forward. I have set a personal deadline of early Summer. Assuming Delicon doesn't drop out again, I don't see any reason why it can't be released well before then. After two years we've already got something good here and we won't keep feature-creeping it to death. I'm really expecting this next board revision to be the last.

Good to hear.

As far as the OP - at the moment, definitely yes if you have a Cuttle Cart 2. :D

Go easy on me Glenn. Sometimes real life doesnt mesh the way we like it to. I have spent more than a couple thousand dollars (if you count tool costs) and an insane amount of time making this vapor. I have deliberately absorbed all the costs associated with the design stage as a way to shelter others from my real life issues. With no desire to ever see those resources paid back, I think pushing the schedule because I want or need to break, for any reason, seems fair.

I do not think it is fair to call Chimera vaporware. Complicated things need a longer time for development. Is that hard to understand ? It is not encouraging for Vern and Glenn to make deprecative comments about the fact that it is not yet released. Is anybody here who thinks you can develop a device like Chimera in a few weeks ? Yes ? Good luck, you will need it :D

Call it "In Development" and I am happy ...

To my understanding, the only difference in Starpath games, vs standard cart games, is the extra ram. Rather than release a bunch of expensive c arts with extra ram, the way say CBS did, they instead made one expensive cart with extra ram, and made it hook to a tape player to store the games on instead.

In theory, it was a good Idea, but in reality, like all addons, it was a failure.

I guess they didn't see the games as worthwile enough to translate to cart format though, or it would have happened. (a couple of the games were protoed on carts IIRC)

It's a little harsh just dismissing it as a blanket 'failure'. At the very least, it was a critical success. Starpath went down with the videogame crash like every other 3rd party. It did arrive on the scene a little late in the lifecycle of the 2600 so it probably wouldn't have been around forever even in the best of circumstances.
