vdub_bobby #26 Posted November 15, 2007 I think it's the later unfortunately, since in the lists the credits seem to be fine. Actually, that's good news since that's easy to fix.
vdub_bobby #27 Posted November 15, 2007 And I did fix it! I reposted the corrected lists above, in place of the screwed up ones. I also reattached a corrected copy of the Excel file. Acclaim has the same poor ranking (I guess I screwed up the data after I figured out the publisher rankings) but now the list of games they did is correct. RJ #29 Posted November 16, 2007 Hate to nitpick, but I dont see "D" on that new list.
Cybergoth #30 Posted November 16, 2007 Hate to nitpick, but I dont see "D" on that new list. That is because it's not there. For one is it filed under "Acclaim Japan" in gamerankings and then doesn't it have any reviews for it.
8bitgamer #31 Posted November 17, 2007 Maximo Ghosts to Glory (as well as Army of Zin) should be way higher up on the list. Classic Home Video Games 1972-1984
Cybergoth #32 Posted November 17, 2007 It barely missed the Top 1000, I assume. Maybe it'd do better in a PS2 chart?
wrenchien #33 Posted November 20, 2007 there's 1000 games for that system? hmmm..any of them actually hard to find?
gdement #34 Posted November 20, 2007 Excellent work on that list, vdub_bobby. I'm not sure I ever studied the regression thing in school, but I may have just forgotten. Whatever it is, it looks good. And my impression, though I haven't tested this, is that the distribution of review scores is almost the opposite of a normal (bell) curve, with heavy clustering down at the 1-3 range as well as in the 7-10 range, with the fewest scores in the 4-6 range. I think the distribution might be somewhat closer to normal if every player were to rate every game they've played. The main problem is that people don't bother to rate a game they don't have strong opinions about. But many also tend to think of "7" as average for some weird reason, as you mentioned.
