Mendon #1 Posted November 13, 2007 I found THIS story extremely interesting! Not sure how many I'll buy at $15 each, but the chance to play Crimson Skies once more has me excited! Mendon
Lord Helmet #2 Posted November 13, 2007 I wonder if this means no more backward compatibility updates? Still, pretty cool news!
NE146 #3 Posted November 13, 2007 but the chance to play Crimson Skies once more has me excited! That game is fairly new... (only came out in recent years). The question is why don't you still have it?
Lastblade #4 Posted November 13, 2007 I thought CS is BC, or no? Anyway, I got the game for free, so it is no reason to buy this game for $15 if it is already BC.
moycon #5 Posted November 13, 2007 This isnt something that really interests me (I have yet to play an Xbox game in my 360.) That said, I'd rather they just update the BC list and let people buy up these used Xbox game off eBay for like $5 I wonder if the VC games will include achievements? Gregory DG #6 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) It makes more sense than ever to have a larger than 20gig hard drive if you're going to download these large games... How big is CS anyway? Edited November 13, 2007 by Gregory DG

There's been some questions out on the web about the reliablity of the source. But this does sound like something MS/Nintendo/Sony would pull. Because of the following formula: If used games=no profit, then BC updates=losing money. If this story is true, then I don't see MS offering up anymore BC updates. Mendon #10 Posted November 14, 2007 but the chance to play Crimson Skies once more has me excited! That game is fairly new... (only came out in recent years). The question is why don't you still have it? Crimson Skies, for whatever reason, didn't make the move with me last summer to my new house. Don't know if I lost it, lent it out and forgot to whom, or whatever but I can't find the game and I've never gotten around to hunting down another copy. I played the heck out of the game for the first 5 or 6 months upon its release... great game! Mendon
swlovinist #11 Posted November 15, 2007 I personally have over 100 xbox titles, and have 3 game stores within a couple of miles of me. IGN three red lights podcast had some more info on the upcoming titles. Personally I think that just going out and finding the originals is just better. 1. Halo will be 2.3Gigs 2. Nothing added to the games 3. $15 is too expensive I think that the whole download thing is okay, but some of these games(Crimson Skies and Mechwarrior) have been $3.99 in the 5 dollar and under bin for so long, I just dont think many people are going to care. I do see Halo doing well.
Gabriel #12 Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) Halo, Fahrenheit, Fable, Crimson Skies, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex and Burnout 3. Can't say I'm excited about any of these. The list should be titled: "Crap on the bargain shelves." Edit: Removed "Wonderful" as a description to Crimson Skies, which certainly doesn't deserve any positive adjectives applied to it. Ze_ro #14 Posted November 16, 2007 If used games=no profit, then BC updates=losing money. If this story is true, then I don't see MS offering up anymore BC updates. I'm hoping that if this turns out to be a viable source of income for Microsoft, they may be inspired to work on the backwards compatibility so they can release MORE games for download... I imagine once that works done, they would release their work as a regular BC update. Unfortunately, I think there are enough games on the BC list that they can release them for years to come... --Zero
Hyper_Eye #15 Posted November 16, 2007 I personally wouldn't buy a single one. It's a waste of money and a waste of MS resources. They could spend that time ensuring our machines don't melt themselves or working towards that 100% BC goal they talked about.
Atariboy #16 Posted November 16, 2007 They never had 100% BC as a goal. This sounds like a good idea to me, and I doubt its taking very much in the way of resources to do this. Looking forward to trying out a game or two on this when it happens.
FastRobPlus #17 Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) Keep demanding BC on the various Xbox community forums if you are passionate about it. I think the Xbox guys listen to this feedback. Edited November 16, 2007 by FastRobPlus
Hyper_Eye #18 Posted November 16, 2007 They never had 100% BC as a goal. Sure they did. Unlike some people that claim they are breaking a 100% BC promise I am referring to a goal that they have stated. Do a google search on "Our goal is to have every Xbox game work on Xbox 360" and you will find many references to it. This is something I have seen many times. I purchased my 360 on launch night after standing in line for 8 hours (my first and last time waiting for a console on launch day.) One of my big desires was BC and I followed it from long before release until the last update. I am not upset by the lack of BC updates but I do hope for more. I am not a big fan of the idea of digital distribution. Sure it's great for patches, small arcade games, and expansions. I don't like the idea of buying a game without physical media and possibly having no way to load it up ten years from now. I have a large XBox collection. While I still have an XBox and use it I like being able to play my XBox games upscaled to high definition.
Lord Helmet #19 Posted November 16, 2007 Keep demanding BC on the various Xbox community forums if you are passionate about it. I think the Xbox guys listen to this feedback. WE DEMAND MORE BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY!!!!!!!!! How's that
Shannon #20 Posted November 17, 2007 If anything if sales go well for these titles it may encourage them to work more on the backwards compatibility stuff. One thing they do need to do though is fix all this silly "the system will crash if you run the extras" crap they are using. No excuse for that. They can easily work around that issue. As for backward compatibility I think I ultimately use it for titles (aka franchises) that have not yet made the transition over to the 360 just yet. Oh and add Fusion Frenzy 1 to the list of titles to be released.
+HammR25 #21 Posted November 17, 2007 There's no way I'd pay $15 for a VC title that's locked to a specific console.

I don't think that they are locked to one cosole...rather they are locked to your gamertag iirc.

I don't think that they are locked to one cosole...rather they are locked to your gamertag iirc. They're locked to your console first and your gamertag second. As long as the game is played on the console you originally downloaded it to, you're fine. But, if you're attempting to play the game on a console other than the one you downloaded the content to, you must be signed on to Live with your gamertag. If you're not on your gamertag or not connected to the internet or if Live happens to be down, you can't play.
