majinbuu #1 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) Just finished Neutopia II for TG16. I was so pissed after the ending of the second one, Dirth's still not dead. Then in the closing credits where it says "Watch out for Neutopia III in 199x" I thought it's Shenmue all over again. Another trilogy not completed Anyone else play a game series that was never completed? And I was having so much fun playing that game too, didn't care if it was a blatant Zelda knockoff. Thanks Edited November 13, 2007 by majinbuu
Tempest #2 Posted November 13, 2007 A recent one that comes to mind is Maximo for the PS2. It's a shame because the story was getting interesting. Tempest
JB #3 Posted November 13, 2007 Beyond Good and Evil. I suppose they DID at least close off the story arc, so it's not as bad as it COULD have been, but there's a few plot threads left dangling, and then there's the whole ending hook...
The_Laird #4 Posted November 13, 2007 Highlander - Atari Jaguar CD Was supposed to be 3 parts - only one ever came out.
thomasholzer #5 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) Star Saga: One and Two, was supposed to be a trilogy. In the manual it still states; 'working on the next chapter in progress', but it never happened because MasterPlay went out of business. Two of the best PC multiplayer space mission games ever. Trip_Cannon #6 Posted November 13, 2007 Space Quest was supposed to have a part seven.. but I suppose that doesn't quite fit under the label "trilogy.."
+FujiSkunk #7 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) SwordQuest. Hey, if Douglas Adams can call the Hitchhiker books a "trilogy"... Edited November 13, 2007 by skunkworx
bdog_147 #8 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) Advent Rising. I read this was to be a trilogy but the first game sold poorly and the sequels got canceled. Yeah, it's a more recent game, couldn't think of anything else.... Edited November 13, 2007 by bdog_147
Uzumaki #9 Posted November 13, 2007 Ultima 3rd trilogy. U8 is so different from past Ultima series it may as well be a completely different RPG game that Origin took and slapped Ultima title on it. So in a way the final trilogy of Ultima series is not "complete" U9 didn't work for me either because of 3D point of view is also different from past series. majinbuu #10 Posted November 13, 2007 well, it doesn't have to be a trilogy, any unfinished game series will do
kevincal #11 Posted November 14, 2007 Well, not a videogames, but there should be a Predator 3. And no AvP doesn't count because lets be honest, it sucked donkey balls! Predator 1 and 2 kicked major ass.

mattkain #13 Posted November 14, 2007 Manhunter by Sierra On-Line. After playing Manhunter New York and Manhunter San Francisco, I was ready to take the battle with the Orbs just about anywhere. I think Manhunter London was planned, but sadly never ended up being part of the Sierra plan. Matt Kain

Predator 1 and 2 kicked major ass. Thank god someone else thought AvP sucks Everyone I know likes it for the GRAPHIX/CGI man! I think CGI has made movies much worse... I love movies from the 80's to mid 90's, before all the film makers started using computer graphics as a crutch for everything. They forgot a solid script, acting, and REALISTIC special effects make a great movie. Computer generated stuff generally just looks like fake crap. Although of course, movies like the newer Star Wars do a very good job to make CGI passable. I mean, there were some good moments in AvP, but overall, it was just so lame compared to the awesomeness of Alien 1-3 (yes I thought Alien 3 was quite good) and Predator 1 and 2. I just watched Predator 2 again last night, god I love that movie. It starts out screaming and never really stops.
majinbuu #15 Posted November 14, 2007 Anyway, back on topic, does anyone know if Startropics on the NES was a finished series? I would like to know before I play it.
koster #16 Posted November 14, 2007 Anyway, back on topic, does anyone know if Startropics on the NES was a finished series? I would like to know before I play it. I never finished NES Star Tropics II: Zoda's Revenge, and I don't recall seeing any mention of a third game in that series. As for me, SNES Shadowrun never got a sequel, despite the Shadowrun II teaser in the game ending.
Vic George 2K3 #17 Posted November 14, 2007 SwordQuest. Hey, if Douglas Adams can call the Hitchhiker books a "trilogy"... That's why he's Douglas Adams and we're not! SwordQuest was NOT supposed to be a trilogy but a "quadrilogy", if you will.
mattkain #18 Posted November 14, 2007 Shining Force III on Sega Saturn was meant to be a 3 disc series that would be released in installments. Even though all three discs were released in Japan, only the first disc ever came out in the States. I bought the Japanese second scenario disc, but playing an RPG in a foreign language (especially when you're trying to follow the story) isn't really all that fun. Very, very frustrating. Back then, the Shining games were my favorite RPG series. I pretty much gave up on them after the whole SF III debacle. Matt Kain
theking21083 #19 Posted November 14, 2007 I'm still waiting for Monkey Island 5. Supposedly it is going to be made, but I have been waiting since 2001 for it.
AtticGamer #20 Posted November 14, 2007 (edited) The third Zelda game after Oracle of Ages/Seasons was cancelled. kevincal, I understand your pain, I love Alien 3 and hate AvP as well. CGI just makes everything look so fake (including parts of the alien in Alien 3). Edited November 14, 2007 by Atari_kid
Ze_ro #21 Posted November 15, 2007 Eh? No one has mentioned Shenmue yet! I never really got into that game, though it was amazingly unique in it's own way. Even though it was never actually meant as a trilogy, I wish they had made another entry in the Maniac Mansion / Day of the Tentacle series. I loved those games. --Zero

And it better star Mike Tyson! Ya he's hella crazy, but I've always been fascinated by him.
JB #24 Posted November 15, 2007 Anyway, back on topic, does anyone know if Startropics on the NES was a finished series? I would like to know before I play it. You're good. Heck, you could just play the first game. Remember, this is the NES. Game companies didn't just assume there was gonna be a sequel.
shadow460 #25 Posted November 15, 2007 Does Super Mario Bros count? How long did we have to wait in the USA to get the SMB 2 that wasn't Doki Doki Panic? I agree with SFIII and the Oracle games. I haven't played through much of either of the Oracle games yet, though. Also did Daytona 2 ever make it to a console? Hmmm, I'm still missing Red Alert for the Saturn, heck the whole Red Alert storyline got skewed when Red Alert 2 was released, and it got further skewed when Electronic Arts took over Westood Studios. I also want to know what happens after Kane and CABAL have that chat at the Nod ending to Tiberian Sun: Firestorm. I always thought that the storyline from Red Alert 1 would work into Tiberium Dawn, then into Tiberian Sun. I never did see certain characters in Red Alert 2, though, to support that.
