Anyone 100% familiar with the San Francisco Rush series? What is this?

It's been a while I've been asking to myself what version of the Nintendo 64 San Francisco Rush 2049 is depicted in these pictures: http://media.ign64.ign.com/media/013/013526/imgs_7.html

 

The only ones I've ever seen don't look like this at all. The timer is gone, you only have 5 drones max and the interface and audio has been completely altered. Anyone know if this is a Beta version of some sorts?
