ApolloBoy #1 Posted November 25, 2007 I'm expecting a 2600 Jr on the way, and I was wondering how difficult it'd be to mod a Jr with S-video. I'm sure it goes pretty much the same as any other 2600, but where would you put the audio and video jacks?
Prodos8 #2 Posted November 25, 2007 (edited) They usually go on the side of the case. Look up Longhorn Engineer he sells a mod board for them and has installation instructions on his website. edit: here's a link to the thread http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=115379 Edited November 25, 2007 by Prodos8
ApolloBoy #3 Posted November 25, 2007 I know about Longhorn's great AV boards and plan on getting 2 more for my 5200 and 7800, but I can't find any instructions for the 2600. Plus, where exactly would the jacks go? The sides don't seem to have enough room.

Anyway, here is a link for 8bitdomain's 2600jr instructions: http://www.8bitdomain.com/Atari%202600JR%2...ion%20Guide.pdf They some how squeezed them in on the size of console, but they do seem to fit. edit: I see now the s-video jack stradles the two case-halfs to actually fit on back of the console. The rca stuff fits on one half on the side of it. Edited November 25, 2007 by Prodos8
ApolloBoy #5 Posted November 25, 2007 Ack, I don't like how the composite video and audio jacks are on the side of the console like that. Surely there's enough room to fit them on the back?
Longhorn Engineer #6 Posted November 29, 2007 Hey Apollo I am planning on getting the instructions up for the 2600 models soon. I have never seen an Atari 2600 jr in person so I don't know what to expect. The Heavy sixer instructions are slowly coming along however and should be done by the end of next week. If you make a few of these you'll sell em' I guarantee. Let us know. I wish I had the time on my hands.

I ran the wires out of one of the controller ports o the back and the system plugs straight to the tv.

That's something I want to avoid doing, because if one of the cables stops working for whatever reason, I'd have to disassemble the console and go through the trouble of desoldering the cables.
