ckrtech #1 Posted December 10, 2007 Hey all - So what is a fair price for a 7800 console. I am considering getting one - possibly just a console with a power adapter to mod for S-Video and use to play my 2600 games. Of course I would probably eventually want to get 7800 games and want the real controllers as well. So how about it? Console + AC adapter? Console, AC adapter, and controllers? Don't know if I have played any 7800 specific games....I did just get a 5200 and play it for the first time. Maybe I should slow down....
shadow460 #2 Posted December 10, 2007 Fair price for the console is probably $30 to $50. That's with the power supply, switchbox, Pole Position II, and controllers. Obviously the more 7800 games it comes with, the closer to $50 you get. You could get one that's been fitted with various mods, including the AV mod for a bit more. Getting it complete in the box might make it worth $60 or $70. For a bare console, I'd say $20 since you're going to have to purchase something to hook it up to your TV (AV mod, RF to coax adapter, etc.) and you're going to have to change the power input also. Do you like arcade ports? If not, you might be underwhelmed by the 7800. If you do like arcade ports, then you should pick up the 7800 at some point. In that case, put aside about $30 for Pac-Man Collection! at the AA store. There used to be more than just the one title. Galaga and Jinks used to be listed, and Beef Drop (port of BurgerTime) sells very fast when it is listed. One of our local game stores has a 7800 for sale at $100. It has 12 2600 games, two controllers, the switchbox, and the power supply. I feel like that's a bit high, but at least one would not have to pay for shipping at all. The unit comes with a 90 day warranty, and if it does break, you don't have to pay return shipping, either. Another store has a handful of common 7800 carts, but I cannot remember which store it is right off. If you're coming to OKC for the holidays, that might be an option. GasMonkey #3 Posted December 13, 2007 I agree there on the price, but the question is when to buy/sell. If you want to buy, your best bet is between Jan and June. The best time to sell is October to December 15. DragonmasterDan #4 Posted December 14, 2007 I paid 33.00 for mine with 70ish games (some were doubles of 2600 games I already had) plus shipping in the Summer.
shadow460 #5 Posted December 15, 2007 Sounds like you got a better deal than I did. I piad $55 for mine with 17 boxed 7800 games, 1 boxed VCS game, and several loose games including Rampage and Double Dragon. There were less than half a dozen loose VCS titles. Most of the boxes were in great shape, and most of the games had their manuals even if they didn't have boxes. Rampage and Double Dragon came with manuals, but no boxes. ninermaniac #6 Posted December 15, 2007 I would agree at about $30 with no box. $60 with the box. Personally most of my stuff is from yard sales and flea markets. I have one I got for $10 with 30 games at a yard sale.
Atarifever #7 Posted December 15, 2007 Fair price for a 7800 About 1 million dollars. I think I paid $30 for mine in the wild, unboxed, with 2 controllers and a loose Pole Position 2. It wasn't an incredible deal, but being in the wild, it was pretty cheap really.
Bruce Tomlin #8 Posted December 22, 2007 About 1 million dollars. I really need to start putting together some consoles. I don't want to ship stuff, but if there are folks in the Austin/San Antonio area who want one, I can provide the important parts: console, power supply, and some new-in-box games.
