adelaide-atari #1 Posted December 12, 2007 Hey! just wondering if anyone can help me here? I've been lookin' all around for a good CX40 for ages, but every one I find is dead or dying. I'm not much of a handyman so I was thinking of buying one of the aftermarket CX40 replicas that are floating around eBay. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with these? Thanks! Rybags #2 Posted December 12, 2007 No idea. Shittiest Atari type sticks I've ever used were the Commodore triangular one, followed by some other one, then the Atari one. Save your money and grab a good Wico - they have leaf switches and should last forever.

Yeah, I have a couple of ok sticks, but for some reason I just don't feel complete without a working CX40 style in my collection.... sad but true

Thanks! i've got some of the cx 40 replicas and i love them. mostly because they are very "clicky" when you use them. one thing though, i have broken the sticks inside them while playing. guess i got carried away a bit. anyway, i just took them apart and switched out the broken sticks with spare ones from some older controllers i had laying around and they work better than ever. i guess the plastic inside the replicas is cheap and not very durable. other than that, they are well worth the money

SRGilbert #6 Posted December 12, 2007 Some people really like the repro sticks that come with the Flashback2. I personally prefer the TAC-2 sticks myself. One nice thing about the 2600 is that there are almost limitless options when it comes to controllers depending on your preference.
shadow460 #7 Posted December 12, 2007 Either buy a Flashback 2 or a set of the wireless joysticks. The Flashback 2 itself can be hooked up in the living room and the stick brought in there when needed. Wireless sticks, on the other hand, were made back in the day, and both sets (soon to be three) that I've had have stood the test of time very well. mimo #8 Posted December 12, 2007 If you have a few spare $ you can get new ones or better yet, Gold ones from Best I have a pair of the gold ones and they are excellent, best also sell all the parts to repair the ones that you have got, it is very straight forward to rebuild a CX-40. Also the Flashback2 sticks are also excellent, PM igg1na to see if he has any left Tony is a good guy
cosmosiss #9 Posted December 12, 2007 I keep a pair of CX-40s around for looks and good measure, but I mostly use a Slik Stik. It's solid, responsive, and it looks hella cool. I haven't tried the Tac-2 yet, but I will next chance I get.
