Are there any games where two people meet, fall in love, and aren't ashamed to admit it? Not counting porn.

Or are some emotions off limits to explore when forcing a player to experience another life, however artificial it may be?

You know the industry is immature when the best written examples of flirting are spoken in Simlish.

Are you talking about love between players (in an online setting), love between non-player characters, or love between players and NPCs? It would help to establish this to continue this thread properly.

Sure, Feel the Magic on the DS is sort of like that. It's actually a bunch of silly mini-games(and really fun I might add) but the basic story is a couple falling in love under some very odd situations.

Not in an online game at all. Think single player storyline, scary as that might be to some.

Mario and Princess Peach certainly have some sort of relationship. Though, for all we know, Mario could just be a 'sucker', used for 'rescue' time and time again, with no true emotional fulfillment.

Well, maybe I'm misreading the question, but...many, many RPGs? Though it depends on what you mean by "ashamed to admit it". Is it: they aren't allowed to (princess falling for a commoner; a very prevalent theme), they don't realize it themselves (e.g. Alex regarding Luna in the first Lunar), or they are literally ashamed of themselves for falling for the person? I can't really think of any examples of the last...the closest I can think of is in Tales of the Abyss (PS2), but it doesn't quite fit.

I meant showing a little passion for each other. It seems too often relationships are as chaste and innocent as a kiss at the end of the game, or at the opposite end, involve a random make out session with a complete stranger for a health restore.

Let's say you were in a fight with Roger Ebert over whether videogames could ever be a form of artistic expression, in the same way a graphic novel can be.

Name a couple who display enough of a relationship that you could point them out, and not automatically lose the argument?

Ask Tifa Lockhart what she and Cloud were doing by the Highwind all night before they team enters the Crater. I think the answer is pretty obvious...

Then in Advent Children she answers the phone with "Strife delivery service."

play FFVIII, you won't be disappointed, I'd give more detail, but I wouldn't want to spoil anything, but trust me, you won't be disappointed.

There's a lot of RPGs with those kinds of plots, the problem is much like most movies, most video games have particularly terrible character development.

Lunar 2 has that story that's done fairly well for example. But it's uncommon to see it pulled off without it being headache inducingly terrible.
