Why does my Starmaster roll?

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a copy of Starmaster and the screen rolls. I cleaned the hell out of it, and tried running it through my VCR.

Any ideas?

If AZ is Arizona, perhaps you have a PAL cart

Is there any way to tell from looking at the cart?

Inky I know where you going with this..but Starmaster does not use the FE bankswitching that some 7800s can't handle. I believe that the Starmaster Krytol has is most likely PAL with the wrong Label. It wouldn't be the first time I have seen this. It is just interesting as it means that lots of Atari and Activision PAL games were actually manufactured here in the USA and then shipped overseas for distro...

This might also explain Stan's Solaris he sent to me which looks pretty much like my NTSC version...but yet it rolls for him..and plays fine for me...but...with altered colors.

I got Starmaster and Robot Tank (2 of the best 2600 games ever) confused....

I fortunately have a 7800 that plays anything. :)

Well, I tried it on a different TV and it works.

Interesting; it's the only cart I have that does it, however my PSX rolls on that TV also.

Krytol,

If it works on the other TV then that pretty much indicates that your StarMaster is in the PAL format and that, that TV is capable of handling the PAL signals.

It happens...I might have a Pal Zaxxon in a standard Coleco case...as my Zaxxon will jump the screen when I move my ship to the lowest point on the screen.
