1994 Nintendo Powerfest!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys:

Years ago, Nintendo held a Video Game competition in 1990 called the "Nintendo World Championships 1990" which was also called "Powerfest 1990". It was extremely successful in which the NES hit its apex for its time despite the console being 5 years old in America, and the 16-bit generation battle was about to occur soon.

Now fast forward 4 years later. In 1994 Nintendo introduced the Powerfest Video Game Competition once more as "Powerfest 94". Did any member here in AA ever participated in Nintendo's Powerfest 94 event or traveled across the U.S.A. to each of them, in 1994?

I also overheard that (like NWC 1990 Grey or Gold Cartridge) there where oversized, Super NES Powerfest 94 Cartridges used in this competition. Yet, once the competition was finished, the Majority of the carts were package back to "Nintendo Of America" to be dismantled, and never to be seen or used again. EXCEPT ONE. Before I joined AA, a friend that was a competitor in the 1994 Nintendo Powerfest, claims that there is only one cartridge left that survive the dismantle process in NOA in which a former Nintendo worker got its mitts on it by special permission by his superviser! I don't know if this is Fact or Fiction, but this is what was explained to me..

Is there any members here that played in the 1994 Nintendo Powerfest & have any pics with them as well? Plus if any members have seen or heard about this "One-of-a-kind" Powerfest 94" Cartridge, please let me know. Thanks....

Anthony.....

Hi:

Thanks. I have a friend who knows the 90-94 Nintendo Gamer Champion "Jeff Hansen". From what I was told, Jeff was never been defeated at that point until he battled my friend. Mike Iarossi was suppose to face Jeff Hansen, but it never occurred because of his winning streak was over!

If I'm not mistaken, he faced Jeff Hansen in San Diego, CA.
