Best way to open a cart

Recommended Posts

I'm going to put a Pokey chip in my CC2 cart but I don't want to break the cart. What's the best way to open 7800 carts?

Carefully...

no, ok really I squeezed (hard) on the big 'half' and gently pealed them apart... If you can avoid breaking all the tabs on one side of the cart you'll be ok..

You'll break the cart for sure if you dont remove the screw(screws) under the label first!

The CC2 does not use a screw, only the tabs on the sides of the cartridge hold it together.

Yeah I got it open and Pokey inserted. Now Commando, Beef Drop, Ballblazer and Froggie sound like they should.

I practiced on a One on One cart first. The CC2 was a lot easier to open.

Watch the end label, too. I managed to tear a Choplifter! end label in half even while applying the right pressure to open the cart.

I did get it glued back together, but I'd rather not have torn it to begin with.
